I think he is right. Benching romo is not the answer - I like that he is calling out Garrett and others on the team and not putting it all on Romo.

I think it is funny that he is sonning partick crayton after such a poor performance.

HAHAHA At if he (Crayton) wants anyone to eve know he even played in the NFL he should shut up and .... do his job as well as possible.

That said, Ed Werder is still a duesch.

Eli Manning was in the same boat a couple of seasons ago.

Folks in NY were lamenting how he wasn't Romo.....former players were blasting him too. Tiki Barber talked about how it was comical to see Manning try to take charge.

I believe Tom Coughlin pulled in the reigns and kept the team together. His force of personality kept the team in line.....it nearly got him fired....fans were ready to call for his head....yet, he kept it together.

Werder is right.

Romo is on his own.

A guy like Troy or Marino could take charge....shoot...Troy was the discipline here for years. But Romo doesn't have that type of personality.

Does that mean he's not good enough?

No.

Again....I don't see anything in his personality (confrontationally) that's too different from Eli Manning. Manning simply has a coach that has his back....he can play looser.

Wade MUST step up. Every day, Gruden is sounding better....at least he would have Romo's back.

I find it absolutely incredible that a statement like..."Benching Romo is not the answer." is met by...I think he's right.

Whether it's just so obvious to me, common sense, or the Romo Kool Aid I drink, the fact that Werder even brought it up and it is considered an option in people's minds leaves me utterly speechless.

As I always say, just go out and bring in five or six guys to Jerry for camp next year. I'm sure they're everywhere. How hard can it be.

Must be the Kool Aid.

Was wondering if you listened to the recording? Clearly, Werder did not bring it up (Micheal's on air partner did)and shot down the idea over and over. If that duesch finds it an option in his mind i could care less also.

He will not be benched(unless complete multiple disasters and we all know it.
Thats is why i agree with Werder, he will not and should not be benche.

What's the world coming to when you start to agree with an Ed Werder comment.

Nobody is ever above being benched if they don't play up to expectations and/or somebody else can do a better job.

Mr. Blue Suit's notion that Romo had that chance last season is beyond absurd, taken that Romo was injured last year and came back still hurt.

Then he says that we need leadership from the coaching staff who can 'look their players in the eye and tell them what they are doing wrong and demand better.' So does that not apply to Romo as well? I guess not according to Mr. Blue Suit.

And really, the entire Crayton thing about saying we should be a power running team isn't THAT bad because like it or not our strength is the running game.

Truth is, we need leadership and discipline and the rest of the league's players hold Romo as a very overrated player (he's been voted by players around the league as the most or 2nd most overrated player in the league). So we need a coach that demands better from ALL of his players. If we get a coach that lets Romo off the hook, then we really haven't accomplished anything.

When was this interview?

It's amazing that Kevin Kiley would promote benching Tony Romo after the Chiefs Game.

Funny, Kevin Kiley claims Tony Romo loses credibility just because Patrick Crayton said we need to run the ball more.

Ed Werder really takes it to Patrick Crayton.

Yeah, it was last week, before the Chiefs game.

And considering the source of this thread, I think you guys are missing the point. You were supposed to focus on firing the head coach and promoting the OC.

But I can't believe Kiley is really stupid enough to suggest benching Romo for a few games. What a joke.

She really is isn't she? Don't feel bad, your not her only fan:thankyou:

Def didnt realize it was from last thursday, so its not as funny that he was sonning crayton....but it was still funny - maybe he should have taken Werder's advice.... at one point almost wondered if crayton was trhowing the game because of a bad gambling habit...But the part about Romo makes alot more sense coming from before the chiefs game.

Next time Joe let us know when it was from.

Is there a link to the rest of the discussion? Curious what Mike said how it would be if it was Wade and Mike working with Romo.
