Apologies if I missed, but apparently he was on with KTCK-AM recently and said this?

Question: Are you physically where you were a few years ago or has your game had to change because of you injuries?

Claiborne: “I feel like it has changed. Due to the last couple seasons, you know, I always pretty much had trouble with my knees where a receiver coming out of a break of anything it takes that extra step to try and not mess anything up or the pain is just that bad where I have to take another step to come out of a break, and that’s the difference in breaking a pass up and intercepting a ball or a receiver catching it on you, and this year I feel more explosive out of my breaks. I feel more confident in my knees, I feel more confident in what I’m doing, and I feel more confident in my body.”

Just thought that was a very interesting quote. Were there issues with his knees before last year? Honestly don't recall.

As far as I can remember, he was grabby, and he'd get pushed around in press by big WRs. I don't recall him lagging in breaks.

But Mo has always looked good in camps. People like to bag on him, but his real issues are with health and, when he's hobbled, confidence.

Who know maybe the tendinitis was a precursor to the rupture. Hard to say and IANAD, but I know enough to know when one limb is not right the other gets hurt more due to overcompensating, or he was just using the phantom injury as a crutch.

I have been beating Claiborne up over the last few years and I'm trying to get behind him.
I saw where he looked ok and prior camps and came out in the season looking clueless and afraid. Not sure if he was overwhelmed mentally with assignments or the game got too fast and physical for him. Perhaps he's been ailing with injuries all this time per his comments above so we were getting 80% of him throughout and now he's back to 100%.
If he can remain healthy to the regular season, it won't take much time (esp playing the Giant WR's) to see if he's actually improved or the same of what we have seen. All you have to do is watch his few steps at the snap of the ball to tell.
We'll see.

I'm hoping he gets plenty of work in these preseason games.

I'll await Mo's performance in live action to put much faith into his comments. What he's saying may well prove to be for real. It wouldn't be the first time that someone recovering from a serious injury has responded in that manner, though. It's a quite routine response in most cases. Having said that, I hope he's 100% legit.

Easy for me to get behind him myself.

He's a Cowboy.

Preseason is big for him this year. i think one of the daily shows said it and i didn't look it up but i think they might be right that he has never played in a preseason game for us...or at most he's been in one since he got here b/c injuries always held him out.

Thanks for posting this!

....this year I feel more explosive out of my breaks. I feel more confident in my knees, I feel more confident in what I’m doing, and I feel more confident in my body.”

Sounds like Mo is planning to go Beast Mode on WR's.

.

Me too but he's already been replaced and he hasn't been so bad that we don't have hope that he can be a solid player for us.

I would love to see him earn a longterm deal this year for about 2.5-3 mill a year salary and stick around as our 3/4th corner.

The only problem though is he doesn't look like a guy that will be worth a darn on special teams so I doubt Dallas has long term plans for him.

I have been very disappointed in Mo thus far mainly because I think he does have the talent to be a very good CB but for different reasons has failed to play to his ability. I hope he can show people that ability.

Interesting. I didn't know his knee had been a significant issue.

Based on reviewing game footage, I don't think most of his problems were physical. Most of his problems were mental. Anytime an offense lined up 2 WRs on his side, it was almost a given that he would screw up that coverage. Sometimes the CBs are required to switch off and sometimes not. Claiborne always seemed to make the wrong decision in those situations and we could often see Scandrick screaming at him after the play and trying to explain what he should have done.

Isn't he already healthier this training camp than any of his previous camps?

I don't hnow if this is accurate or not, but I heard that he had been having problems with that patellar tendon for a few year and needed surgery to fully repair it. Sounded similar to Sean Lee's problem with a partially torn ACL.

If that is trully the case he could still be a great player when he fully regains his confidence.

I agree wholeheartedly when it comes to watching him, but could it be he was playing in such a way as to protect his knee? That's really what jumped out to me. I don't recall hearing of any knee problems with him, just the shoulder, wrist and other ailments.
