Did Dez sign a completely new contract? Or, did he sign an extension of the old one?

Please forgive my ignorance. Did Dez sign a completely new contract? Or, did he sign an extension of the old one? Is he now in for 6 years? I kept hearing today that Russell Wilson signed a 4 year extension. Which by the way, my biggest NFL wish this year other than the Cowboys winning #50, is that RW and everything Seahawks involved, falls flat on their face. I have never been around more obnoxious fans in my life. Not Eagle fans, not Saint fans, nobody. Most absurd fan base in history if the NFL is 12. They can't even come up with their own name. I've found a new hate!!!

Dez signed a completely new deal, which is 5 years.

I actually haven't read about the Wilson signing yet so I cannot address those points.

He was franchised, anytime a real contract is signed the franchise tender is gone and it starts with the actual contract. If he were in the last year of a contract then it would have been an extension which they were close to with Dez in 2014. But any franchised year they are not in a contract.

He just came off his Rookie bargan contract, now we got him for three of his primest years with two more to prove it for the trifecta....

If he were still under contract, Dez couldn't have been franchised.

I like you 44... I'm going to pretend like you didn't ask that question.

Now go throw 44 Hail Mary's and we'll forget about this whole thing.

RWilson had one year left on his rookie deal for 1.5m(remember he was a 3rd round pick)

So they gave him 4 more years and 87.5m in new money, with 60m guaranteed

So his total deal is 5 years and 89m, which is close to Jay Cutler money

But he got a 31m signing bonus so his cap hit goes from 1.8m this year to 7m
