Why was Hanna in there instead most of the time. I didn't even see Escobar or hear his name one time.

We probably put a premium on pass blocking knowing the skins were going to bring heat. Escobar's blocking is below average so he didn't see much playing time I'm guessing.

Now that you mention it, I'm not sure I saw him either. I hope he's not injured.

On a team with receiving depth like ours Escobar/Hanna/Harris/Beasley aren't going to be appearing in every game. They all are talented and the team is going to gameplan situations that put one of them in the game over the other.

Hanna might be just as bad as Escobar though

There is not one reason Escobar should ever be pass blocking. Ever. The only reason he wasn't playing is because JG has no idea how to use him.

Not to mention that, on the Randle TD drive, we were basically just going 5 wide the whole time with Witten in the slot....he wouldn't have had to be pass blocking.

I saw him out there. Looked like majority of the time was 3 reciever sets. With how TWill is playing, i dont mind.

If he can't block "ever", then he either needs to learn, or he will always be a wasted pick.

I didn't say he can't. I said he shouldn't...and I was talking specifically about pass blocking b/c that's the post I was responding to.

You dont see SD using Gats, ATL using Gonz, or NO using Jimmy Graham as pass blockers do you? Get Escobar out into space and use that massive catching radius to make plays down the field. .

When you start seeing a fullback out there as much as you did tonight, it is a sign to me the team is already throwing in the towel on the 12-formation again. I say good riddance. It doesn't work for us. Murray is a different runner with a FB in front of him.

Keep Escobar to learn behind Witten and be our future at TE. Let Hannah go do his thing.

I wouldn't even look at Escobar much this year. He really needs an off-season strength program. I think he will be ok long term but he will disappoint until he acquires NFL strength.

In the redzone, we should always use him opposite side of Dez as the second fade/back shoulder option.

He's a weapon for the offense in the passing game. We'll call our shots, and use him more in some game than in others. But he's a matchup advantage, has great height, and catches everything with those big, soft hands. It'd be silly not to use him where we can. We can't go back in time and trade him for an OG or a DT, so we might as well be pleased with the fact that at least he seems to be developing into a decent player.

I think Escobar will be fine, as someone else said we will pick our spots with him, but I would like to see us become more adventurous with him. The guy has a huge wingspan and nice big soft hands. Only a matter of time IMO.

personnel does not fit the scheme or the strength of the players. murray is better with a fullback...tight ends cannot block...12 personnel is a mess.

Funny how people spout this line but will never own up to who they would have taken. Margus Hunt? The guy with no stats for the year? Because he was far and away the highest rated DLineman on the board.
