LaTuna - I know little about Haley. Considering your knowledge of the Jets, what can you tell me about him? I read your post in the other thread about this - I can tell you aren't a fan. Why did we hire him? What about him makes parcells think we don't need an offensive coordinator? Our offense is woeful compared to it's talent.
CR, I sure don't know why Bill hired him. I have some feelings why he chose him over others tho, the main being that when Bill set up shop in Dallas there were very few of his old coaching assistants available...and like all HCs, he likes to surround himself with the familiar.
Then when Haley got canned in Chicago...wasn't it when Lovie brought in his crew?..he jumped on Haley.
One point in Haley's favor then was he had worked with Key before, and Bill knew there would be no issues there.
Haley is a guy who was brought up from low grade quality control like jobs (despite his dad's influence and the silver spoon foot-in-door...at least he wasn't made a position's coach overnight) and Bill is as instrumental in his career as he was in Charlie Weis'.
He also has said he likes guys who are 'like him', ie, shoot from the hip and say what they mean. Coaches who don't back down and are accountable.
Bill has to be very hurt by Haley's actions, if this all turns out to be true. He's mentored the guy...from glorified ball boy in NY to 'passing coordinator'.
A poster from Southeast Asia, Kobal, posted something yesterday that interested me. He said from his country he can hear the commentators talking at commerical time because they run no ads overseas (sounds like heaven to me). And that he heard Troy and Joe Buck say Haley told them he could already "write a book on TO".
Smoking gun right there. Haley had been yakking to the sportscasters. I don't think there is going to be any proof that Hakey leaked anything about this past weeks' restroom-practice field skirmish to the press...if JJ had something that serious on Haley, he'd be gone. That's a serious breech of confidentiality...ratting out the details of a closed meeting in which the player was evidently told it all 'ends here'.
I think it's about what the poster said here yesterday....live on overseas broadcasting, sports commentators were overheard discussing that Haley was beeothcing about TO to 'outsiders'.
And TO spoke with such conviction on his radio show that Haley had loose lips...he got wind of it, too.
A pretty good movie of the week, anyway.
