Don’t recall seeing him and if so, must have been sparingly. Cause for concern, or good sign for Fowler?

10 whole plays.

Very, VERY disappointed in his usage. When they do use him, they are not letting him unleash off the edge either. I just don't get it.

Yes,

He contributed at a pretty key time, too.

Had a TFL , stopped the run in the backfield when Cincy was inside their own 20.

I see exactly what they are doing. They are warming him up to do things like play the run, etc. I think they already know he can rush the passer. They're trying to make him a complete defender.

I'm fine with it.

This is a bad take.
The team won that game largely because of how dominant the pass rush was.
Sam was really good when in but did have another bad penalty.
He has to cut that out but nothing to whine about at DE period.

Our DE/Edge rotation is insane. Likely the best in the NFL.
Micah, DLaw, Dorance, Fowler, Sam

Agreed. Just wish they had a guy opposite Parsons who can bend the edge. The rest of our guys are mostly high effort rushers. But yes, as a unit, it's a good group.

Maybe if he stopped getting penalties he'd play more

I will be keeping my eye on Troy Andersen over in Atlanta who went 2 picks after Sam. I really wanted him on the Cowboys over Williams. He had a blocked punt yesterday, but he doesn't appear to be doing much on defense yet either. Will be fun to see which guy turns out to be the better NFL player.

If your a fan and you watch the game you woulda seen he played. Had a tackle for a 4 yard loss and a hands to the face penalty. If your watching the game not sure how you miss it.
That’s the problem with a lot of fans. They watch the game but don’t see what they’re watching. They rely on a stat line.

Is this the same coaching staff that watched Gregory make all sorts of boneheaded penalties last year and then tried to reward him with a huge contract?

With that said, I trust Quinn.

Yes, he played.

Coaches prefer to ease rookies into action if they have other options at the position.

Fowler has starter ability and is a good option as the 3rd DE. Actually he's 4th with Parsons playing primarily DE in these 2 games.

Agreed thats what won the game....and I like our rush guys except Armstrong, who also played well....but Cincinnatis OL is atrocious, and that really helped things.

They are going to send Burrow to Andrew Luck-ville if they don't get that right, and soon.

Tampa OL was banged up also, hence holding Brady under 20. Giants OL has been a problem, but they have a more mobile QB.

Point being, while I do like our edge guys for the most part, Cincys OL helped make them look as good as they did.

Fowler can bend, Sam is a power rush edge.
Dorance is a really sound gap control guy that flows to QB.
Those are all really good pieces.

They are far better off without Randy for example lining up opposite Micah because you get far better run stop play with only slightly less pass rush.

In modern game where you need 5 coverage players, you simply can't have two full time bendy edges unless you can clone Micah.

Offenses that rely on 3 step drops and power run would eat that alive. Cincy went to that and murdered us in time of possession and ball control over the second half.
