Does anyone remember Schottenheimer saying he believes in drafting from the outside in because those positions are isolated.

Then Cowboys draft inside out with Tyler Booker that does fit there zone running scheme and not exactly a great value position that high in the first.

That is either some classic Spy Hunter smoke screen or he got out voted.

Having said that, Booker offers a blue chip talent and incredible leadership. The middle of the pocket is solid for the next 2 years.

Did I think Jared Wilson OG offered great value for the position with better attributes for their scheme? Yes and in the 2nd or 3rd.

Today, we find out if Diggs is expected to return. A decent CB that can start will be there. Jayden Higgins WR or Collins DT are also possible. I hope they go with Collins in the 2nd and upgrade the toughness on both sides of the line.

He also said he wants guys who love football and are high character guys and that he wants to run the ball and there is no secret if you listened to what they were saying that OL was a priority. Heck, Jerry basically came out and said it when he said he thought the OL was a bigger factor than RB in us not being able to run the ball well enough. No player is ever going to check every single box. You take the one that fits the best overall. So, I don't think it was a smoke screen

A+ thread for the Spy Hunter reference alone
You exactly right Schotty did a good job hiding his hand and ultimately drafting like he said from day one...physical.

Jared Wilson at C, and moving Beebe to RG was a scenario I was high on too, but they got the job done and now a good RB will complete the mission for the run game.

Really good post.

Revel fractured skull and torn ACL in the past . Hopefully he gets past Medicals and is on the field game one he’s desperately needed at CB .

No problem with either rounds one or two . Quality players who should see action from the start of the season . Go find a RB more than anything Sat .

If he makes it to them, I want to see them draft JJ Pegues.

Listen, there's the Teslas of the world, Einstein, Newton, yeah they were all in a class of there own but nobody holds a candle to a Schotty/Jones duo. There's chess, then there's checkers my friend.

I was wondering the same thing. They had me convinced they were taking Golden, and I think they may have if they had traded down.

I had not considered whether he was outvoted or not. Who knows how the Cowboys operate behind closed doors. To me, Booker was a reach, and there were guys they could have taken in round 2. I wonder had they not taken Booker at 12, and he was then drafted by another team later in the 1st, a team that took another OG, then maybe Jonah Savaniinaea may have been available at 44. He was taken by the Dolphins with the 5th pick in the 2nd round. Of course had the Cowboys take someone else, who knows how the rest of the draft unfolds.
