It would be a savings of around 9 mill, not sure how much compensation you would get. He is a FA in 2023 but as of yet has not be able to show a lot. If Cowboys stay with him and Schultz great but I do think Schultz has shown himself as a legit starter should Cowboys choose to part with Jarwin

I'm not for talking about cutting him for sake of saving money when I've not seen on the field for a full season to see what he can be as a full time starter.

It's a reason why they extended him. And thank the garret era for allowing old man whitten to hang around and empede..progress , that's one reason hasn't been able to show his full potential yet.
if Garret were still here as HC then written would still be the favorite bias starter

. If this team was so preoccupied with saving 9 million they should've cut Crawford awhile back than giving it to him for charity.

Why would we cut jarwin instead of letting go in free agency and better chance getting a compensatory pick if another nfl team wants to throw money at him?

If Jarwin loses out , why pay him not to play?

Those Pats and Eagles two TE package duo can block better than what our TEs can do in line here.
that would be my only problem with both in same time. it's a reason felt they had to sign Blake bell as a blocking specialist

and with the 3 wr offense with lamb cooper and Gallup, what really the likelihood of seeing more of the 2 TE offense than our 3 WR 11 personnel?

I appreciate what Schultz did with jarwin going down for the count, but he ain't that good and that special
and there's only so many touches and reps we can get to certain players with one ball
I still wanting to see 4.3 speed tony pollard getting isolated vs LBs in single coverage or getting him quickly in the open field to spring him for big play splash plays.
Schultz was suppose to be a decent blocker and was surprising to see his receiving ability. He did decent with 63 and 615. Good enough that he can't be ignored. And as the 4th or 5th option on the play he will get favorable matchups...

I do think pollard is a good receiver and was under utilized last year. He can start in the back field and swing out to the slot and get good favorable matchups. He can go in motion and even go outside and let the defense choose their poison.

Is Schultz the starter next year?

I think he proved enough to earn the job.

63 receptions 613 yards and 4 TDs. And that was with Dak only throwing to him for about 4 games.

Jarwin better have a good training camp.

Competition at the TE position. I like it.

I think Schultz will start because he's an OK blocker. Jarwin is more of a big receiver.

Since we're most likely to spread teams out with Cooper, Lamb and Gallup, we need the tight end to be able to lead block for Elliott decently on the running plays.

He'll get his opportunities. It's not all about starting. It's about having depth and multiple players you can use to attack defenses in a variety of ways.

that's a big IF,.. is jarwin losing out because Schultz is a better player or would he be losing out because jarwin is having difficulty recovering to form ?
Jason Witten was one obstacle, ...Blake's knee recovery will become another. I believe as I said before not all players are the same when it comes to injury recovery.
Some make it back to previous form,..some don't.

If Jarwin can't get back to the previous form, it becomes a totally different story, and then there's a possible cap casualty.

Not opposed to him just stating if they want to save money they can and the play of Schultz gives them that option.
