I know he was meant to meet with the Pats on Sunday/Monday.

But I thought after that visit he was going to meet with the Cowboys immediately after?

Anyone heard anything yet?

We just got a foot plus in the Northeast so his flight might have been delayed today.

That could be.

I was reading that one other player was supposed to make a trip to the West Coast from the East Coast and had to delay it for a day.

I think he was supposed to be in NE today and then to the Saints tomorrow.

Sources: Springs To Visit Saints

Free agent cornerback Shawn Springs will visit the New Orleans Saints tomorrow, sources close to the situation have informed me.

A 12-year veteran out of Ohio State, Springs had 36 tackles and 1 interception in 2008 for the Commanders. Due to injuries however, Springs has only started 29 games over the last three seasons.

More on this story as it develops.

Springs isn't a player I would consider we "need" per se but I would feel more confortable with him as our #4 over Ball or a rookie. It would be nice for him to at least visit and perhaps be offered a contract. If the money is about the same as he is being offered with other teams my guess is that he would take it to play with the Cowboys.

X 2 ^^^^^^^^^^

I cant see the value if we only get 10 games out of him in 2 years etc.

It doesn't appear he's got a visit with Dallas coming up anytime soon anyway with the Pats and the Saints in front of us. Probably Thursday at best before he comes here, if he even does.

What's it going to be then, eh?

There hasn't been anything "official" about Springs even visiting. All I have seen is a post saying that Gil Brandt stated it. For all we know, the man's senile. I'd like to have him but it does not appear we are interested or we are simply letting him play the field.

Could be. I don't honestly know, obviously, but from what I've seen thus far it doesn't look like he's coming here anytime in the next couple of days.

Shawn Springs-DB-Commanders Mar. 3 - 12:36 pm et

Free agent Shawn Springs never did make his flight to New England and is expected to visit the Patriots today.
He also has a visit with New Orleans lined up for tonight. The Pats appeal to veterans like Springs and it'd be no surprise if they sign him immediately.

Ahh, so he's just now getting to New England and if he gets out of there, without a deal, he'll be headed to the Saints tonight.

Why would Springs want to come here? He wouldn't start. Jenkins and Newman are our CBs.

Many believe he'd take a cut in playing time to be closer to his family and to possibly help a team that could contend for a championship if they get all their heads screwed on straight.

If he wants to win a championship, I'd think he take Pats over us.

As for the family thing, I'm not sure how strong of a draw that is. His dad is gone. His body is laying there in the ICU at Medical City with a g-tube being his source of nutrition. His brain is dead. There is no chance of recovery. The family needs to remove the nutrition and lets his body go because there is nothing there anymore. In short, there is no value to being here for Shawn.

He has other family besides his Dad here.

But he is also a kid who moved around a bit and didn't attend high school or college here so he has ties in other places as well.

I think he goes to New Orleans as a starter fwiw.

Well this sucks....

SPRINGS WILL VISIT THE EAGLES

Posted by Mike Florio on March 3, 2009, 5:39 p.m.

With cornerback Lito Sheappard traded to the Jets, the Eagles need a replacement on the depth chart.

And they might have found one in Shawn Springs.

The Eagles have announced that Springs will visit the team. In many cases with the Eagles, it’s a precursor to signing the player.

The Eagles also have Asante Samuel, Sheldon Brown, and Joselio Hanson on the depth chart. Hanson recently signed a contract extension that entrenches him as the nickel back, at a minimum. So unless the Eagles are thinking about moving Brown, Springs would be the dime back, at best.

Brandt or Springs?
