Did Steve Smith get sick after the Wilcox hit?

Wilcox did whiff on West on their TD run but overall he's really gives the D a good physical presence.

Lee and Jones whiffed respectively the two plays before. I think it had more to do with how they were lining up and pursuit angles resulting from that more than it was about any of the threes ability.

It was cleaned up after that drive and all three ended up with good games overall.

For sure. You are the man. I love that video
Roy Williams, at his best did what you always tell hitter to do, he tackled through people. Even when he didn't have angles, because of trying to tackle through guys, the hits were still vicious. Unfortunately, he lost his love for the game. He really could have gone down as a great one.

I still watch this from time to time

Still one of my favorites. Roy Williams would be getting fined and/or suspended weekly if he was still in the NFL and played like he did. These "defenseless" receiver rules and such only came about recently. And let's not forget Roy is the reason for the horse collar rule.

Roy is viewed unfairly, IMHO. When we had LBers who could actually COVER people like Dat and Dexter, Roy was free to roam and just lay the wood on people.

But when the personnel changed and Dat retired and Dexter went to the Rams, Parcells decided to go with much bigger, heavier guys in the middle like Bradie James.

That meant putting Roy in coverage way more often. And he got exposed. I don't think it was that he lost his love for football; it was that the schemes changed and he ended up having to cover WR's and TE's 1 on 1 way more often and the other team quickly figured out he didn't have the skills for it.

Nobody every yelled at Parcells or Bradie James or the other big slow footed LB'ers who couldn't cover to save their lives. All anybody noticed was that ******** ROY WILLIAMS letting the receiver catch another ball.

Excellent points. But I think if we had a Roy Williams type guy today, he'd be a beast linebacker in Rod Marinelli's defense. A 6'0, 230 pound tackling machine with speed and playmaking ability.

I have a copy of the game, but I'm deaf. All I can find is a part where two of the team doctors are talking to Smith while he's sitting on the bench.

If he could learn to take proper angles, he could definitely be the future at SS

It's there because I saw it. It's only 2-3 seconds and shows him behind the bench or boxes with a team employee shielding his back with a towel. You see him bent over and start heaving and then it cuts away. I would find the two hits and watch from then on. You will find it.
