I guess I should add more. It is my belief that without him the Cowboys would not have won any superbowls during the 90s. He was the heart and soul of the team and as such made everyone else better. What are your thoughts?

The team has slowly died, following the retiring of each of our triplets through the last 10 years

Irvin was as bad a boy as there ever was in the NFL. But one thing he did...was inspire on the field and in the locker room.

He was no Saint, but he was no Devil...

Winning to him was the most important thing on his mind. All heart!

Oh...and he was a bad dude! He still is...

yes, the cowboys wouldnt have won any superbowls without irvin

i would say the team was starting to disolve after 95, free agency, plauyers getting to old, beat up, etc.

and no real head coach with the team after jimmy johnson left,

I think we started to fold after Jimmy left, but we had the talent and the last bit of leadership to hold it together for one more run in spite of our original Coach Cupcake.

Clearly he had his demons but would Emmitt have been so great without Irvin? Would Troy have been just another Qb without him? I have truly changed my beliefs and now believe that without Irvin the Cowboys would have just been second best to the 49ers.

When Jimmy was named the coach Irvin called him and told him that there were a lot of guys on the team just collecting a paycheck that needed to be cut. He set the stage that "hey we are not *******around here" He wasn't perfect but he perfectly fit the mold of the Cowboys.

It'll be a long time before another one like him comes along.

And the great Jimmy immediately started shopping Irvin and found no takers...

And thank God for that if it is true. Didn't Irvin play for Jimmy in college? Jimmy did nothing on the field did he? Please refresh my memory.

The Cowboys were killed in a firefight outside Da Nang City on July 22, 1968.

Well actually, he thought of trading Irvin before trading Walker. Figured a big trade would be the only thing that could help Dallas, he shopped Irvin to Al Davis (I think) and he talked Johnson out of it.

Johnson then started shopping Walker.

IIRC

Despite being a completely stupid response that was actually pretty funny. I think Rambo survived though.
