Ever since the 1994 season, when Fox TV started broadcasting NFL games, they have had the same theme song. This song has been played during every commercial for every game and every radio show for every year since.
Now am I the only one who noticed that the final verse sounds exactly like the Christmas Carol "Sleigh Ride?" (It's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you).
You know the verse:
"Giddy-yap giddy-yap giddy-yap let's go
Let's look at the snow
We're riding in a wonderland of snow "
Now is it just me or do NFL games and Sleigh rides just not go together? The last thing I need when I'm watching a football game is to have some Christmas Carol stuck in my head.
The song "Sleigh Ride" was written in 1950 - 44 years before Fox decided to rip it off. I find it hard to believe nobody at Fox noticed at the time.
So was this a marketing ploy, a deliberate attempt to get people to start Christmas shopping in September?
Anyhow, enough is enough Fox: TIME FOR A NEW SONG.
