Did the Refs Rob the Commanders of a Gutsy Road Win?

I know what a catch is. After explaining it to you all over the years, you know what a catch is. Apparently, this ref crew (and replay crew) don’t know what a catch is. Was the fix in here? This play changed the whole complexion of the game. Dak, who was looking pretty shaky, seemed to settle in once he knew the game was in the bag (wink, wink). I mean, congrats to him on the All-Time Cowboys TD record but will he be able to sleep tonight knowing how he got it? Probably. He has a Sleep Number bed afterall.

Here’s the video. Look at the assuredness of the Commanders fan here, only to be disappointed moments later and watch his innocence go down the drain along with the Commanders' chances. I’m sure he doesn’t believe in anything anymore after this highway robbery.

Here is another angle. Ignore the clueless Cowboys fan commentary (something I've said around here a time or thirty-seven) in the Tweet because Blandino is absolutely right. The ball can move, and as long as it's still controlled and possession is not completely lost, it counts as regular possession ("movement of the ball does not automatically result in loss of control.") For the going to the ground rule, which applies here, you need control, two feet (knee) and maintaining possession through contacting the ground.

No, the angles hat shows the bobble is the one to look at not the ones that hide it. IMO He clearly bobbled it. Not just a move. No catch. this was not "slight movement" based on what the calls of the past few years have told us. It's a catch when he knee is down and then when he rolls and bobbles it, it no longer is IMO

As explained during the broadcast, the ball can move as long as control isn't lost. I never saw receiver lose control.

Don’t think it was a catch, he juggled it first, tried to gather it, hit knee and rolled butt out of bounds and the ball moved some in his belly….never REALLY had control of it.

yeah, thinked we need to see rest of that video.... he was bobbling it right up til last split second of that video. if he bobled it after that, then yeah incomplete. either way, game result would be the same

The ball moving isn’t the issue. He actually let go of the ball. It wasn’t long but his hands weren’t on the ball.

The ball moving doesn’t mean he doesn’t have control. He let go, it was only a split second, but he did let go. When it’s that close, the replay officials aren’t going to overturn the call, regardless of what was called on the field.

are you talking as he was making the catch while still in bounds? if so, I agree but he secured it with his knee down before going out of bounds.

if you are talking as he was rolling onto his back, I didn't see any significant movement. looked like he had firm control all the way thru the slide & as he popped back onto his feet.

You can't reference "other calls" as a basis on a completely independent call. The rulebook is the standard in every case. Slight movement but was controlled the whole way. If the ball left his hands, a la Dez, then sure. But here he had a hold of it the whole way.

In this video, you can see he let go of the ball with his right hand. There’s another video where you can see he momentarily lets go with his left at the same time. That is not control

No, right after while he was rolling on his back. There are like three different angles.
