Did Ware's agent find Cowboy's deal offensive?

Check out this quote in NFP Article:

"One agent I know was standing five feet from the execs of a team that want to restructure down one of their defensive pro bowler’s deal. The team exec told me they couldn’t even get a meeting with the agent. The agent then told me the team offered his client the most offensive contract he has seen in 15 years. The two sides left without ever talking."

Kinda vague to attribute this to Ware, however if it was Ware and he turned down a pay cut............................could explain Jerry's comments on Ware might not being here next year.

This signals a turn to the right direction. ware's leafing would tell other marginal players that the days of forever holding onto marginal players are over. No more experimenting with players forever. Well, maybe with the expection of Romo.

Jared Allen, maybe? How many (even former) defensive Probowlers are out there? Peppers? Finnegan?

Whoever that player is needs to get a new agent if the agent wouldn't even meet with the team. Unless that agent knows something about the market the team doesn't know. Allen, Peppers, Finnegan, and Ware are all going to accept pay cuts one way or another. Sorry, but your play does not merit that much coin.

I don't put much stock into the whole chicken dance between agents and teams. That's not really the player, that's a different thing all together. There is either a deal to be made or there is not. If the team decides that it must move on, so be it.

The player will either get more money from somebody else and if that happens, then you can't really fault the player. If he does not, then the team has played their had well. It's business.

Yeah he was. If you recall, Ware took less then market value on both of his deals. The agent, whomever that was at the time, was not real happy about that as I recall. Agents want money. They get paid on a percentage of what they can get from a contract. Simple as that.

Less than market value? Averaged over $11 m with $40m guaranteed . I thought he set the bar at the time.......

You mean base salaries of $6m don't usually get you 16 sacks/year over 4-5 years?

One of the worst parts of the off season is the TMZ-like approach to reporting news and rumors.
