1. Dez Brant had 4 catches/58 yards before getting injured. then he left the game, wouldnt call that "doing nothing".
2. QB play has a profound affect on WR play. Its not even arguable really. None of our recievers had good years last year, but this year they are all playing better. Wonder why that is? For a historical perspective, Randy Moss had 2 down years in Oakland before getting traded to New England. We know what he did in New England, but in Oakland he had career lows across the board because he was playing with a washed up Kerry Collins and Andrew Walter. Point is, to pretend that QB play has no affect on WR play is negligible.
3. Dez rushed back from injury, so his production last year is a moot point anyways. He rushed back to help the team, that certainly goes against the "all about the money" narrative going on around here. He couldve easily sat out the year like Julio did with the same injury. Its not fair to expect a player that isnt 100% to perform as such. And the fact that he wasnt 100% is supported by the fact he required surgery AGAIN at the end of the year.
4. Week 1 one of the season he was used as a decoy, this is supported by the amount of go-routes he ran. Yea he couldnt hold on to the ball for the TD but 1) it was a difficult catch and 2) elite receivers drop passes all the time. To act like that was the reason we lost is pretty biased when many of our other players made mistakes.
5. he dominated in Washington, him making "spectacular" plays isnt relevant at all. We pay him to produce like he did in week 2, not to make sportscenter top 10.
6. Funny how you conveniently forget to mention he caught a TD in week 3 and played on a fractured knee. Lets ignore the fact he scored and sacrificed his health to play, lets just focus on him only catching 3 balls.
bottomline, this whole narrative surrounding Dez is tiring. Ive never seen a franchise so eager for its star player to fail.
