So many of our 30 pre-draft visits were WR’s. With the signings of Hurns and Thompson a WR early in this draft seems more unlikely. Did we waste our pre-draft visits?

This doesn't change our draft at all, other than eliminating any need to reach for a player

Oh OK. I don’t know why I thought they had 6-8 guys lined up.
You were probably looking at all of the ones that met at the combine, attended pro days, etc. I made that mistake a few days ago when I was browsing the walter football site.

Lol WR is still in the plans. Probably still in play at 19 as well although most likely will not be forced like the Charlton pick last year.
Beasley, Williams and Dez will all be gone in the coming years. No better time then to trade Beasley this season, grab a receiver in the draft this season. Let him develop and next season or the season after Williams and possibly Dez gone.

I agree. Drafting a receiver this year is still in the plans and should be

Nah, we could still grab one, Besides I believe we bring in players we want to know more about, the others we’ve scouted already know about.

Dez and Hurns are essientially here on 2 year deals, Beasley on one. We will draft a receiver at some point.

looking at the short (so far)but telling list of visits and private workouts, it is either a 1st round WR or day 3 WR. That could change but i see only 1 WR with a day 2 grade in Dante Pettis.

They will likely draft a WR early then cut Dez and save 12.5M. The free agents are just stop gaps.

Linehan and the new WR coach are pushing these changes. Linehan was here when they signed TWill which likely means he is OK with him.

It came out that they were definitely going to cut Dez if they had signed Watkins. That means they don't really want him.

Scouting Report: Daurice Fountain

School: Northern Iowa Position: Wide Receiver Class: Senior Height: 6-2 Weight: 210

The East-West Shrine game is the nation’s longest-running collegiate All-Star game. The 93rd edition

Daurice Fountain, WR, Northern Iowa

It’s not easy to stand out in this game as you’re splitting snaps with many different players, but it’s even tougher when you’re from Northern Iowa.

Daurice Fountain put together a solid performance in this game, catching three passes for 61 yards. He also had 40 yards on two punt returns, showcasing speed and elusiveness in the process.

NFL draft prospects who helped themselves at Shrine Game
Daurice Fountain, WR, Northern Iowa

Fountain was the most explosive receiver all week during practice and his explosiveness was evident in the game, as well. He finished with three catches for a game-high 61 yards and had a 30-yard punt return, too. Unfortunately, he made a costly drop toward the end of the game, but he generated some big plays for the East team. I love what he did running after the catch. He reminds me of the Rams' Pharoh Cooper, who made the Pro Bowl this season as a kick returner

I love that people are pumping Daurice Fountain. Remember this he went up against two NFL players every day. Makinton Dorleant and Deiondre Hall were his competition. The kid can jump out the gym too. You will soon find out

He was chosen as the game’s Most Outstanding Player on offense.

There’s always a story of success about a player that few people are familiar with heading into the draft that becomes a productive NFL player. Could Fountain be that guy this year?
