Dielman good as gone

Ha! You think this is about draft picks? First, I think the number is closer to $22M. Secondly I think that was before the six year $30M deal that Gurode just got and the $8M deal McBriar got. We still have to sign a kicker, Columbo, and Crayton. They still have to replace Al Singleton, Kenyon Coleman, Tony Parrish and Al Johnson. They still have to sign their draft choices also and replace Rivera with as you say Dielman for $7.5M a year. That doesn't even count for any money they need to save to resign players next year and sign other free agents as the cap ext. next year will probably be enough to sign little more than the draft choices.

If we release Rivera after June 1...we have around 27 mil...counting the signing of Gurode. AND the release of Bledsoe...

Does not include Colombo, or re-signing McBrier...

This was in a thread yesterday where Adam jumped in.

Yes and no. People know he can play, they just don't think he will. My bet is anyone is willing to sign him as a guard that can play tackle. Not the other way around unless their tackle position is more painful than the Cardinal's was last year...
The Niners will probably throw dollars at him. He still has name value, which right or wrong will drive his price up.

Hmm, maybe. My guess was the signing of Larry Allen by the 49ers was Norv Turners doing. With him gone, they may not do that after all. Unless they can get a 2fer by signing him and another lineman. Maybe Steinbach or Gandy.

This is the guy at the top of my list. A hard-working, blue-collar guy who made good and is about to get paid for his hard work.

I think the Cowboys' offensive line could use more guys like him. I think they have a few 'talented' guys who need a cattle prod to get motivated and a guy with Dielman's work ethic could be a big plus.

Bingo.

He's kind of like what Marco Rivera was supposed to be. Except Dielman is young and actually, you know, good.

I'd leave it up to Ireland and co. (and Phillips, who was only on his team) to put a price tag on his worth, but we need guys like this. Especially on the O line.
