Has anyone else noticed this year that Dez has been quite different. The way he's running his routes. The way he's presenting himself in interviews. Just all around his demeanor has changed. He seems to be very focused this year and I for one am very excited.

He seems to have matured some. But that is to be expected.

Just like Carolina kept their leading CB last season? No player is worth more than the TEAM. This is the point. You aren't going to cripple your future for 4-5 guys. Look how well that worked out for Detroit and New Orleans.
Clearly they did not WANT him bad enough. Like I said....there has been no such drama...from the organization...the media or the fans when we just made Travis Frederick the highest paid center in the history of the NFL. Why? Because Dallas wanted him bad enough. Don't remember any such drama when we made Jason Garret the highest paid assistant coach in the history of the NFL. Why? Because we wanted him bad enough. And of course I know coaches are not subjected to a salary cap. But my overall point is this...if a team WANTS you bad enough...the deal gets done with little drama.

I am not debating if Dallas was within their right to have doubts about extending him long term. But "salary cap considerations" are not words uttered when every player is re-signed. Only when SOME are re-signed. And in my opinion...if you use Dez to get Witten, Beasley etc...open. If you go to Dez when the game is on the line like the did in Green Bay in the playoffs...their is a premium for that type of talent. If you are worried about salary cap dollars when spending at the WR position...then keep a good stable of WRs (which we don't)...and when you determine that one guy has become to expensive...let him walk. Or employ a coaching staff that schemes lesser talents open without being superior physically like Dez. Again....something we don't do.

You notice how the Steelers handled the Mike Wallace situation? They had Antonio Brown...and moved on from Michael Wallace.
