I am kind of going with the popular crowd of BP being too plain and vanilla both affecting the offense and defense. I say kind of for 1 really big reason... where was our down the field passing? I want us to be a little "creative," this doesnt mean flea flickers and reverses and that bs but can we at least test the Eagles secondary DOWN THE FIELD? We did it 1 and a half times... TOs fade route which was a catch for 20+ and that hail mary with 50 seconds left. Both of these plays were for positive big yards. If we go deep once in the 1st two drives the Eagles cant play 11 defenders with in 15 yards of Bledsoe. It would also restrict their blitz and allows our WRs to get more open since the CBs CANT bump us 100% of the time. They were sitting looking for the 10 yards passes because we didnt test them ONCE until 50 seconds left in the game. I know some of you are gona say the pressure was too much for deep balls... but whats Glenn's 40 time? TO's 40 time? Even Bledso can 3 step drop and throw a 40 yard pass. Any thoughts?

...on your second step. Testing the secondary deep is nice, but Bledsoe needs a clean pocket to throw those kind of passes without them being hung up in the wind.

It wasnt even a matter of getting open... It was a matter of taking a shot just so the Eagles beleive we will try it again. Whats the worst that could have happened? We throw an INT 50 yards down field instead of turning it over inside our own 20?!?!

I remember Troy was begging for us to throw the ball deep in the 2nd half on a 3rd down, maybe a 4th down? He had the right idea! Just 2 or 3 quarters late.

i dont see how with all the weapons that we have how not one person can get open

it's called gameplan and it's called execution.

Neither of which were worthy of a sunday afternoon this past weekend.

I don't know if Bledsoe had near enough time to through the long post patterns, but I agree that the offensive playcalling should have been more creative. I kept waiting for the screens, fades, and quick slants. I think there were two total screens...the quick screen to TO that didn't work and the one to JJ that went for a big gain.

It still confuses me why the Eagles kept running the same couple of blitzes and we couldn't call the right plays. Troy commented on this a couple of times as well.

I really think we need to continue working on picking up the blitz. As long as Drew is at QB and our offensive scheme is what it is teams will continue to blitz since the Eagles exploited how bad we were at countering the pressure.

You left out the two interceptions on deep passes.

You must be talking about the 2 horribly underthrown balls by DB?

TO was open on both these plays meaning the the deeper passes were there.

The first INT came when Drew's arm was hit. The second came when TO was running slowly and Bledsoe put it where he would be at that time but TO took off after Drew threw it which caused the ball to be underthrown.

The first will be fixed with better protection.

The second will be fixed with chemistry.

Owens wasn't open on the first one.

Still, that's four deep passes we threw in the game. That's more than the average. Last year, Bledsoe threw only 50 passes more than 20 yards downfield. Peyton Manning threw 52. Mark Brunell threw 48. Matt Hasselbeck threw 59. Byron Leftwich threw 53. Jake Delhomme threw 58. Ben Roethlisberger threw 32.

I could go on, but the point is that throwing four deep passes in one game is more than most quarterbacks throw. And if Bledsoe was picked off or sacked on more than half of the deep passes we called, why would you want to call more of them?
