Several human skulls found mounted on wooden stakes have been uncovered from a Stone Age lake bed in central Sweden in what is believed to be the first discovery of its kind anywhere in the world.
“We found two skulls that still had wooden stakes sticking out of them through a whole at the base of the skull,” archeologist Fredrik Hallgren, head of excavation with the Stiftelsen Kulturmiljövård Mälardalen (‘Cultural Preservation Society of Mälardalen’) told The Local.
According to results from carbon-14 dating techniques, the skulls and other items are estimated to be about 8,000-years-old.

Archeology fascinates me endlessly and I consume quite a bit of research news and releases. There are nearly daily unexpected finds and papers published with new insights and theories the world over. Today I was reading through this article and already speculating on the human origins on the subjects--whether they were indigenous or otherwise, cross referencing with known migrations of the era--when my jaw dropped at a curious tidbit at the end. I thought someone had hacked the site for a while there, but further reading from other sources corroborates it. (Oh, with a picture which i won't share) You'll have to visit the link to read about the find.
So may jokes... I wouldn't even know where to begin or end, or want to offend the delicate, refined sensibilities of this fine group here. But read the article...
