I love Tony Romo. Now I loved him more a few years ago when he was so evasive and exciting and would make big play after big play. But I still love him today. The free agent, small school athlete who kicks butt at basketball...with moxie.
But the biggest concern I see right now is potentially the decline of his arm strength. He missed several throws tonight and has all year.
And what nobody is talking about…..on the Miles Interception (the 1st one today), he had him wide open after evading the blitz. Like a lot of passes today, the ball had absolutely nothing on it. Yes he threw it off his back foot, but he still should have been able to get the ball there...there was time to set his feet and fire.
There is a replay online of the play from behind, and when Romo released it, the ball looks on target. But it hung in the air so long with no velocity….the defender was able to catch up to it.
That wasn’t a bad decision on Tony’s part, nor was the 2-3 underthrows to Dez early in the game.
Those balls weren’t a matter of decision making, choking, etc. They were a matter of making a strong throw with enough velocity. That there is a bigger concern for the Cowboys and us fans over the next few years.
Choking is a media story...not being able to make the throws is a real concern.
