Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs, who has made his bones in this league as man corner, has asked DC Matt Eberflus to play more man coverage. Until then he said he will have get comfortable being uncomfortable as a zone cornerback. He will start this week against Jets after being benched to start the Packers game. He said the coaches were holding him accountable for on and off the field stuff.

Good for him. I expect the answer to be no. But there are ways we can man up his side of the field and still play zone with the rest. It doesn't have to completely either-or.

I'm willing to bet some of it was regarding "that other player". I always felt Diggs was fueling the fire there.

I hated that Eberflus went to a soft zone on 4th and 6 with the game on the line. Would've loved to seen an all out blitz on that play and make Love beat them with some pressure in his face.

No anger against Diggs should punish the team. If the CB's are better at playing man, why force them to cover in zone? This seems ridiculous.

Eberflus in his previous stops played a lot of man. It's totally against his past to be using almost all zone and nobody else in the nfl is using that much zone.

Diggs isnt the only player unhappy with the defense they are being forced to play.
They felt the were being held back with pass rushing, in 1st half of phil game, and were allowed to do more in 2nd half,and it worked.
Then next game went back to eb scheme lol.

That’s the thing about changing your defense or offensive philosophy every few years with a new staff. You end up drafting guys that don’t fit. Diggs is better in man. Allowing them to plsy man also opens up the ability to blitz more. If zone isn’t working, go to msn. If you aren’t getting a pass rush, blitz more. As you said, what do you have to lose?

Yeah man, a coaches job is go get the most out of his players talents.

I understand wanting to give it time, but you cant rack up losses while doing so. Its the NFL, people will be fired, and replaced. Families will be moved across the country. Get it together Eberflus.

Diggs, Bland, Elam, and Revel are all man corners. Eberflus needs to be flexible with his scheme and play to the strengths of his unit.
