Here is the money breakdown:
He will count as $8.5M dead cap money in 2026.
The Cowboys will now owe him zero dollars cash in 2026.
A post June 1 cut would only have saved $4.25M cap money in 2026.

In other words, beneficial to Cowboys financially moving forward and a clean break for a player who wasn’t going to be here in Dallas and they want to help him find a new home that’s a better and perhaps even a postseason run.

I don't understand this part:

Assuming he clears, Dallas will be on the hook for dead cap hits of:
2025: $12M
2026: $5.88M ($12.5M saved)

Cap hit $12M this year?

I am not a cap expert, but my guess is that since he was guaranteed around $33 million and it's at the end of year 3 and since guaranteed money can only be spread over 5 years that means years 4 and 5 accelerate immediately.

Year 3's guaranteed money salary cap hit was already applied (half of the $12 million they refer to as 2025 dead money) and the remaining $12 million is split over two years if designated a post-June 1st cut so that's $6 million immediately on 2025 and $6 million for 2026.

Again, this is just my guess, but I'm thinking the $12 million "dead money" is actually counting the allocated guaranteed money that had already been applied for 2025 so that's why it is $12m and $6m.

If that is the case, then in reality it is more like $6 million in 2025 and $6 million in 2026 in "new" dead money.

Use the extra money to sign GP. We can trade one knucklehead for another.

But seriously, Cowboys need to go into free agency looking for a corner now. So many freaking holes on that defense now.

With no second day picks, those two first rounders are going to have to be perfect hits, and Cowboys aggressive in FA if they're going to have any shot at fixing this team.

Cap hit 5.88 million next year. 12.5 million saved.

We essentially lose next to nothing then. Break even by cutting him. I'm ok with the move

One brother gets cut the other charged with strangulation on the same day
