Diggs in danger of losing 500k for not participating in offseason program

Broaddus thinks he'd already be gone if he was healthy.
Agree. His 9m salary for the upcoming season is guaranteed for injury, and he is…injured.

Not as if he isn’t aware of the situation.

If he avoided tackling before, how is he going to be when he knows he is essentially in a walk year?

As others have said, very possible he has played his last snap for Dallas.

He has made a hair over $38 MILLION already. That's in the bank. $500k to him, would be a lot like $5k to me. Sure it would sting a bit, but I'd pay it without blinking if I thought that it would protect my ability to keep earning my salary and it would make my overall long-term health better.

He’s supposedly ahead of schedule on his recovery this time. So regardless of whose fault it was for last time, I’d rather he stick with what’s working now. Plus I’m sure he’s not that worried about $500k.

I think Diggs is very unhappy with the.rehab personnel here and might have been one of the ones who ripped them on a survey.

I'm starting to get the impression he doesn't give two flocks if he stays in Dallas or not.
Yup.

He’s gonna get cut someday.

That knee is beyond jacked. Bone grafts.

Tough choice. Rehab at The Star or Party City with South Beach, half-naked women throughout the city and crazy night life. Maybe he gets an invite to Messi’s mansion.

Was an all pro/dpoy candidate 3 years ago but now hes trash, overrated, and soft because he didnt want to tackle Kittle.

These are the same fans that still cheer on Dak btw
I agree with those who say we want him here. He will likely be better with this pass rush if he can get healthy. I just don't know if this rehab gets him back to being the same player. If nothing else,.he doesn't lose his instincts. And that's one thing I like about Diggs.

Still prolly CB1 in Dallas if healthy.

I just don't think he wants to be here.

....might be right. Dont know what happened. Got paid, lost the Mojo.

They say money does lots of things. Maybe add another...lol..

We need to do a better job of screening players before we hand them second contracts. I was never in favor of resigning Diggs because he gives up too many big plays, regardless of however many interceptions he gets. I think what he gives up puts him in the negative even when you count the interceptions. It's obvious his attitude has been terrible. You're going to reward that?

The Cowboys medical staff was voted as one of the worst in the league by their own players, if I recall correctly. So, if the Joneses aren't going to add top notch medical guys n gals to the staff, why put this clause into contracts with subpar options for players?

I'm in no way on the Diggs bandwagon, but I see why he's looking outside the Star for rehab. For example, Dak has his own guy for rehab not affiliated with the Cowboys.

Diggs should have been a June 1 cut. The team had an out in his contract this year they won’t next year. He won’t be ready to start the season and even when he is with two recent knee surgeries, he will not be able to play at the level of his paycheck.
I don't understand what you mean by that and think you are off base here. Let me go into more detail than I did in the other thread. Looking at Spotrac, his 2025 salary is guaranteed and his 2026 salary is not. Diggs cap hits/dead money:

If we do nothing
2025 $12.6M cap hit ($9M base salary is guaranteed, $2.9M of prorated SB, $600K per game bonus)
2026 $18.4M cap hit ($14.5M base salary NOT guaranteed, $2.9M of prorated SB, $1M per game bonus)
2027 $23.4M cap hit ($19.5M base salary NOT guaranteed, $2.9M of prorated SB, $1M per game bonus)

2025 cut post 6/1 total cap hit across all years $17.8M
2025 $11.9M cap hit (save $600K)
2026 $5.9M dead money (save $12.5M)
2027:$0 (save $23.4M)

2026 cut post 6/1 total cap hit across all years $18.4M
2025 $12.6M cap hit unchanged
2026 $2.9M (save $15.5M)
2027 $2.9M (save $20.5M)

so the difference in total cap hit across all years between cutting him this year and next year is his $600K roster bonus this season which we only pay for the number of games he plays in. There is zero reason to cut him this season over next season IMO. So, for $600K we get an extra season from the player even if there is an injury concern it is more than worth it IMO

..with the $$$$ he got paid, could definitely afford personal trainers. If that's his choice.

My biggest reason for cutting Diggs was I don’t think he will ever be what he was signed to be when he got his big contract. Two knee surgeries in two years. I’m just saying I would rather cut my losses early than later.

Regarding Spotrac and Diggs’ contract, here is the link to his deal on Spotrac where it says, “POTENTIAL OUT: 2025, 2 YR, $33,054,000; $17,823,534 Dead Cap.” There is no “potential out” mentioned in 2026 that I see.

I appreciate your difference of opinion. I could certainly be wrong about Diggs. That’s just my opinion. The stuff about his contract - I was just quoting Spotrac. I hope you can take a look at the link. If I’m misreading it, let me know.

I haven’t liked him since he was too scared to hit Kittle in the playoff game.
As a defender, nothing feels better than being able to make a hit like that. It's a wish come true situation. My guess is that he didn't want to get fined. Because you know the flag for hitting a defenseless WR would have been thrown.

I don't know what Diggs was thinking. I just think that play was a lose/lose situation for us no matter what Diggs did.

It’s the playoffs. Make the kill shot. Send a message. Take the 15 yard penalty. Still better than the result of the play.
