Regarding our CB Diggs:

1. How much would we save on the cap by cutting him?
2. Any possibility we draft his replacement then draft or cut him this season?
3. Do you think he is in the Cowboys’ long term plans?
4. How high of a priority will cornerback be in the upcoming draft?

Cutting Diggs will result in a $9M cap hit that can be split between 2025/2026 if post June 1. Have to keep in mind though that he isnt medically cleared so the Cowboys would have to negotiate an injury settlement for him to be cut which in my mind makes it very unlikely they go this route.

My guess is they hang onto him for another year, hope he rebounds some of his value and becomes a possible trade candidate next offseason. If not they can still cut him next offseason for a $6M cap hit. They probably try to get his money off the books in order to pay Bland after this year.

Diggs' contract for this year at least is fully guaranteed against injury. He's basically locked into a roster spot for 2025.

I have heard rumors that Dallas might go CB in the 1st round, and they aren't exactly pleased with how Diggs has attacked (or not attacked) his rehab from injury so far. Pre-draft smokescreens are common, but word is they like Will Johnson, the corner from Michigan. Imagine how Cowboys Zone would implode if Dallas takes another Michigan player early....

It is a need with Diggs hurt, but I really am not excited at the idea of going CB in round 1.

I guess I want a difference maker on offense.

I feel strongly that they will go CB at 12 or maybe a little lower in trade down. Despite the posturing by some Elam is not going to be the starter and they probably think they are set at RB or DT with the free agents they got, so it is maybe DE or somewhat reasonable to think WR but CB is like a bright flashing beacon.

1. How much would we save on the cap by cutting him? Obviously it depends on when they cut him.
2. Any possibility we draft his replacement then draft or cut him this season? Yes, a big possibility.
3. Do you think he is in the Cowboys’ long term plans? Depends on how he plays.
4. How high of a priority will cornerback be in the upcoming draft? Very high. Day 1 or day 2.

I really think it's gonna be a WR, but at the same time it may have to come after a trade down. DE may be a higher rated player though.

Jerry loves his corners in the early rounds, even though their abilities are limited by the rules and if your DLine stinks.

Still thinks they can cover all day and mask a lack of pass rush while the complete opposite is true. It’s all gone well for the football man. Keep building from the outside in.

1. His dead cap is 103k higher than his cap hit. They'd save around 9m on a June 1st cut. I hate throwing dead money to next year.
2. They won't cut him this season. If the opportunity arises, I think they will draft a corner on day 1 or 2.
3. Unlikely. He'd have to play lights out when he comes back. They save 10 million by cutting him next year. Even more unlikely if they draft his replacement and he plays well.
4. This is too hard to tell for me. I think it's going to depend on who is available.

Do not cut Diggs! Trade him if you want him gone. I suggest you be patient and let him heal. He's a definite asset when healthy.

The 9M is 3.6M less than his cap hit if he plays. So, we have a net cap savings by cutting him.
