What are the boards thoughts on this guy. I think he is phenomenal and jumps off the screen in film. Also solves a big problem in our secondary.

thoughts?

First and foremost, I think he's the most likely selection at 17. Imo, I think the Cowboys mini board looks something like this, in this order

Henderson
Chaisson
Diggs

I don't think the first two will be available. Although, it's definitely possible that one of them will be. If they are both gone. I think the team selects Diggs, which in most people's eyes, will be considered a pretty big reach.

As far as the player himself. Diggs has a lot of traits to like. Massive frame, long, and strong. He also has decent speed and he has elite ball skills. He's only been a corner for 2 years. So there is room to grow.

However, when I watch him play, he isn't smooth, he's clunky. He doesn't have great ability to match and mirror receivers, he's an aggressive, physical player that relies more on those traits, than he does with his ability to use his hips and feet.

He's probably the player that I have studied the most, mainly because I think he's going to be our selection. There's a lot of things about him that I like, I'm probably higher on him than most on here. However, I still think 17 is too rich for him. His technique just isn't good enough. But his playmaking skills do draw me towards him. He had a great year last year, outside of his game vs Chase. But chase does those things to everybody

I like him, too. Wouldn’t be upset with him or Fulton at 17. Kinlaw, Diggs, Fulton, McKinney, and any of the top 3 WRs would be my targets at 17.

I like him. I have a second round grade on him, but it's the type of second round grade you give knowing full well there aren't 32 first round graded players in the draft.

I'd rather trade down and take my chances he falls to us, but I wouldn't complain if we picked him at 17; mainly because it means dodging the bullet of drafting other players I like less.

Really good trade down guy, but I'm guessing Minny will grab him at either 22 or 25, so teams wanting him will have to keep that in mind.

A lot of people still feel Diggs will be there as late as mid 2nd rd.
His range seems to be as high as 15 and as low as 55

This is a good take. I don't want him at 17, but I'd be OK with him in a little trade down. But if we do end up taking at 17, it means we didn't take Henderson, Murray, or a safety, which is cool. Diggs is probably the only top CB in this draft I'm Ok with. Gladney is good too, but not a first rounder

When I see Diggs, I see a day 1 starting press corner. I'm not sure how much press-man vs off-man Mike Nolan will play, and I have a lot less confidence in Diggs as an off-man corner because he is pretty stiff. But he can jab, turn, and run with people all day.

17 does seem a bit rich for Diggs so if we could trade back and pick up an extra 3, that would be good but no guarantee a trade back is available.

Saw Daniel Jeremiah tweet this morning that there is no consensus on the CB’s after Okudah and Henderson. One team’s 3rd ranked CB might be another team’s 8th ranked CB.

We have no idea how the Cowboys stacked their CB board. If they have someone like Diggs much higher than Fulton, Terrell, Gladney, etc. then they will be much less likely to risk losing him.

I would be surprised if Henderson made it to 17. There’s a shot on Chaisson. Would be very happy to get Chaisson but my fear is the CB board is going to get wiped out at the end of the 1st and early 2nd.

They really need to add quality CB’s to their roster not only for this year but for the following year with only Brown under contract for multiple years.

Minnesota won't touch him. He's stefon diggs brother. I'm not just saying this. I read something that I believe the team may have said it themselves.

I'll amend my comment to this then

Really good trade down guy...not at 17.
Keep in mind.....

He did not run at the combine. I would like to see the speed and agility drills.

He ought to do his own pro-day like so many others have. I'm sure he'd run a sub 4 second forty if he did.

:D

He would be a good option if Gladney and Johnson were gone.

I have combed through many scouting reports regarding the CB Class, cause I believe it's the team's #1 Primary Need:

-Many of the top prospects after Okudha are considered poor tacklers.
-The likes of Henderson/Diggs fit the Cowboys athletic/length profiles the best, both are more athletic then technically skillful at this juncture.
-Most don't possess legitimate ball skills
-CB's 3-8 may be ranked differently across the league
-There is going to be a CB run mid to late rd 1 into early rd 2, it is possible all the talent is gone by 51. Might see 5-6 CB's taken on day 1.

I believe CJ Henderson is the Cowboys primary target at 17, but there is a good chance he will be off the board. Right now, I believe he could be a immediate, plug and play impact starter. Team may use a similar strategy as 2017, take their pass rusher first due to lack of depth at the position and wait and their Corner, but they could be risky. Diggs/Fulton could be in play at 17 or if they move back.

I doubt Diggs goes behind both of these guys. Possible? Sure. I don't think it happens though
That would be great for us, if we don't take Henderson maybe one of them could be taken at the 51 spot. If we did take Diggs we could roll the coverage to his side.

Overview
Talented prospect with rare combination of size, strength and ball skills. As a former receiver, Diggs has an instinctive feel for his opponent's plans and uses his size and athleticism to disrupt the blueprint when possible. The foot agility and short-area burst are good for his size and helped keep completion totals low. He's inconsistent staying in phase with downfield routes and long speed is his kryptonite, causing grabbing and holding when panic sets in. He's a future starting press-man corner with the hands and ball tracking to take it away and should benefit from more help over the top as a pro. Future consideration at free safety is possible considering his size and skill set.

They really needed to outbid LA for Chris Harris.

That wasnt a big committment and they have really backed themselves into a corner at that spot....pardon pun!

I suppose they could roll with what they have but they better figure out a way to get to the QB a lot faster.
