Looks tasty to me. I love garden fresh veggies. Spring garden is done here. Can't wait to get the fall garden going in a couple of months.

Nooo, before! Unless you count the smallish glasses of chardonnay we had with. :D

Who's counting?

Looks delicious, I need to find a co-op garden close by myself.

I'm not a huge yellow squash fan but I will eat it np, just not on a 1st choice basis. I've found myself in the unintentional habit over the last 5-6 years, of making 1 meal veggie-heavy at least 2-3 times a week.

It sure makes me feel better.

You and me both. Fried okra is da bomb, especially homemade, with only cornmeal! There's 2 bbq joints right around me that do it really well. I'll stop there from time-to-time just to get an order to snack on on the go.

And thanks, it is worth a lot. ;)

Everything is better if it is breaded. Only way I eat squash is if it is breaded.

Oh and already had some fried green tomatoes this year....gooooood stuff. :laugh1:

Oh and the okra in the OP's pic looks pretty good. Have not had okra since I was a kid.

Great looking plate. We have a garden and my wife fixes similar meals except for the rice, which we would use new red potatoes or a cucumber salad or a sweet red pepper or whatever looked good in the garden.

No one eats better than those who garden and it begins with the varieties gardeners grow. They are vastly different than the ones grown by large commercial growers using chemical agriculteral methods to grow varieties to be picked green and ripened in gas chambers and impervious to bruising whereas gardeners select varieties to be picked at their vine-ripened best and used immediately.

That alone is the reason why farmers market produce tastes better than supermarket produce and is worth more. Tomatoes aren't just tomatoes, there are different kinds with different tastes and other characteristics. Same with garlic.

I am a lucky man, I am married to a redhead who owns a Jersey cow and has almost unlimited amounts of milk, cream, butter, cheeses, etc. and who loves to garden and cook and she even lets me help out in the garden. I've never been much of a squash fan but she makes buttered yellow crookneck squash to die for. Jerry Jones could only dream about eating this good. Eat your heart out, Jerry. :p: :D I'm pretty sure he loses a lot of sleep over that.

Seriously though, if you've never tried okra, dredged in cornmeal, then PAN FRIED (NOT deep fried!), you don't know what you're missin'! ;)

One of the all time greats handed down to us by the Good Lord... cornmeal and any veggie to fry in it...

Perhaps. In any event, the experience has been ruined for me. :laugh2:
