Yes....I have had both and the one that is like snot is not good at all. Since I was a kid I might not remember it as well but I want to say the slimy okra was when someone cooked it a different way (not breaded/fried).

Typically, that's stewed or a boiled-type okra.

That can be avoided by cutting the okra into 1/2"-1" pieces, salting it, then putting it in a colander for 30-45 mins, then rinsing under gently running cold water for a few secs.

The salt leaches out the slim/water.

No one in Tucson does fried okra worth a flip. I go to Church's chicken and get nothing else sometimes just because you can't find it anywhere.

My Aunt (a Texas lady) made the best I have ever had.
