Mexican Blackbird one of my all time favorites. Early ZZ Top was awsome

No no no no never never never! Dire Straits all day everyday. Put on Romeo and jolliet or waterline and enjoy the talent of an extremely underated guitarist, mark knofler.

I like both but if I was forced to listen to a lot of either I'd go with Dire Straights.

I was always fond of ZZ Top, Tejas. I think I just liked the mellow mysterious direction that album took.

No question he is an awesome guitar player but it's ZZ Top. Billy Gibbons is pretty darn good also.

saw that car in Houston one night back in the '80s, heard on the radio the next day it had been stolen and taken for a ride and left somewhere. Never knew if it was a true story or not.

I'm usually more in favor of substance over style and deep, but melodic lyrics over catchy instrumental work...but ZZ Top for me here.

Don't get me wrong, ZZ Top...extremely talented musicians and that's why I prefer them over the Dire Straits. But, IMO two very different bands. Immensely enjoy both of them.

both groups had songs that would make you have a wreck, ZZ from driving too fast and Dire Straits from going to sleep.
