Well, whoever it was that had a Directv thread going about getting a free HD DVR out of them if you complained loud enough, I have to tell you.

I called and talked to an agent and was told I could have a ten dollar voucher. ya who.

I sent an email to them complaining about having to pay $399.00 for a HD DVR. after 10 years of faithful subscription. They emailed me back and told me they were happy to hear my complaint (that was weird) and told me they'd get me hooked up with my new DVR free of charge within two weeks.

I was impressed with that kind of customer service. That's why I laugh at whoever keeps getting cable for $70.00 a month:bow: . Thanks for the tip guys.

Read this thread and Call the Retention number listed on the first page to receive the most for your money. STOP calling the 800 directv you will only get frustrated.

Absolutely. I got no where even with supervisor and I ordered HDTV and got no TIVO even.

As soon as I talked to retention and mentioned by wife was going to make me unsubscribe (true) they couldn't stop giving me stuff. Even got free Superfan this year. However, I don't think you can get a blanket guarantee.

Ive got a Direct TV DVR and have had more problems with it than good times. It is a very testy piece of hardware. The programming on DTV blows the crap on comcast out of the water, but atleast with a Comcast DVR box, when you programmed something to record, you knew you could trust it.

Thanks for the heads up. I will be sure to set the TIVO and HDVR to record the Cowboys.

I'm not sure which DVR you have, but I have had mine for 2+ years and never had a problem. I have the older R10 (Non HD) DVR with TIVO. I have heard only good things about this model. The newer model, R15, was not made with TIVO. DTV tried to do it on its own, and I've heard nothing but bad things about it. Just go look at ebay and check prices for both. The older R10 costs much more than the newer R15. DTV did mess up the new DVR's.

The R15 is a complete POS.

They have also recalled the last model HD DVR because it isn't compatable with the new KA/KU dish.

I'm betting the new HD DVR's are garbage also.

Actually, I get cable, telephone, and Internet service for $99 a month. Cablevision calls it the Triple Play. $29.99 for each services.

Not really, I pay about 5 bucks for an additional receiver in a second room. Upgrading that to an additional Tivo is $9.95 a month. So it's about 5 more. I'll have 2 Tivo's but it's only a modest monthly cost. But it's HI Def !!!!

I think it's something like HR20-700. I believe that's what they're supposed to install.......tomorrow.

Oh, so you're the one that got the one working box from Comcast. I went through about 5 HD DVRs and never stopped having problems with that Motorolla p.o.s.

No problems with the Directv one yet. It just has a really slow guide.

I thought it was just me. The guide on the newer receivers is really slow in comparison. I hit the buttons and have to wait for the receiver to catch up. Its a little annoying sometimes.
