He was on some very good teams up until this season, which was a result of leaning too much on free agents. Consistently at the top of the West. It's just hard to win in the NBA, not many teams have in the last 10 years. The Mavs were one of the few.

Ryan doesn't even make my top 10. He only spent 5 years in Dallas. While he is wildly popular, he wasn't at his peak during those years. I think of him more as an Astro than a Ranger and he would be a top 10 Houston sports figure.

I put him up there with any of those guys. Dirk has played his butt off for Dallas, just look at the emotion he showed after winning it all.
