We have three major debates right now: Dak, Coaches, and Refs. I coached debate, so let me tell you what I think about both sides of the these debates and also what I see with my own eyes.
First Dak, I think Dak has been great for his first season and a half and has had a really rough last three games. He needs to get better at some things (mainly passing from the pocket, basically keeping his feet set). But he is great passing on the move, aware, a good runner, accurate enough. And a proven winner, already. 18-6 before this inexplicable implosion. My judgement: Both sides are right somewhat, but it's way too early to call Dak a bust and it's overall more likely he is the Franchise.
Second Coaching, Well, there aren't really two sides here. Few are defending them. But I do believe that Garrett has established a positive culture. has reigned in Jerry somewhat, has almost always had teams that fight (until recently), and has amassed some talent (we still have a top ten talent roster imo). However, the simplistic schemes and the "we do it our way and impose on them" ethos are definitely something that needs to change. This is not the 90s Garrett. Bring in some young coordinators and let them run the show. My Judgement: The Coaches have to go side wins it. But Garrett should probably stay for one more year given two great years of the past 4. Marinelli and Linehan must go.
Third, Refs. I have always thought conspiracy theories were silly. I would watch games (and i watch every game i can, plus many on replay every year) and see blown calls but rarely see a malicious intent or overwhelming bias. Yet I can't deny my eyes here. Or the stats. I think early in the season, they were just calling some crucial calls against our Offense to stall drives. Not too bad. But the last 5 games or so. The stats don't lie. This is an unprecedented streak. Think about this... we have a top 5 oline and the most oline penalties. We have a top 5 dline (pass rush stats), and the least. Plus an 8 1/2 game streak. Maybe in 2014, my eyes woulda said -- but they haven't drawn any holds bc our line can't rush. But my eyes this year -- the first three big plays by the Chargers were blatant holds. And the last three games have been egregious. My judgment: The anti-refs side has it. I don't know (and we may never) that Goodell ordered the code red, but nonetheless there has been a clear bias like I have never seen in watching the NFL forever. I haven't missed a Cowboys game since 1989, just for reference. And I watch multiple condensed games a week on Gamepass, including the Cowboys again every week. I have NEVER seen anything this blatant, and it is making my question my fandom bc I have lost faith in the league. Actually, I still enjoy watching other teams play bc it's not so obviously biased. But, if you are listening league reps, you are on the verge of losing a super fan.
PS-- Who wants to bet that the refs call a hold in quarter one, on a ticky-tack call this time?
