Like I said, until you've gone through it, hard to imagine you understand the sentiment.
Well as I mentioned before, my inlaws are Venezuelan, so they are going through it at the moment (they are no fans of Chavez.) So I actually do have a pretty good idea of the situation there. I've also met many anti-Chavez Venezuelans, and as much I got along with them (among the friendliest people you're likely to meet) it wasn't uncommon to encounter a sense of entitlement that frankly isn't justified (especially taking into account the plight of the poor in that country.)

Anyways, beyond all that, I don't think it's appropriate to boo somebody for the crime of expressing a political view.

People have been booed for less.

I'm not certain on the specifics of Ordonez speaking in favor of Chavez, but if a "celebrity" takes advantage of his position to try to influence others on their opinions, it's all fair game IMO.

Actors do it, the Dixie Chicks... there have been athletes who have made political protests during the National Anthem for example.

If you want to make a political statement, be prepared for a backlash, cause odds are not everyone's going to agree with you.

It's not disgraceful in the least. They'd boo him if he were 0-15 in three games, and that should be much mess offensive to their sensibilities.

Expressing an opinion is hardly taking advantage of one's position. And for me, it's pathetic from a sporting perspective. Here is a guy who is there to help your team win, and you cheer when he strikes out? Anyways, I think we'll have to move this into 'agree to disagree' territory.
