O.K. Dish cost now for standard TV and HBO's about $110.

I was at the State Fair Thursday and Direct TV will give me more for less - for 12 months. Plus Sunday ticket. Then up goes the costs.

AT&T - Unknown as they are linked with Direct TV now.

What direction to go in???

I had the same decision to make 3 weeks ago. Just dropped into Menard's for topsoil of all things because Home Depot was sold out. There was a guy standing behind one of those tables with the promo stuff spread out that you try to avoid. Somehow we struck up a conversation (wearing Cowboy gear we started talking football) and then he explained what he could offer if I wanted to change from Cox to Direct TV.

So I switched my TV to direct tv but kept the cox internet. I instantly will save almost $50 per month on my tv provider for the first year. I also now have Sunday ticket for the rest of this year and I got a $125 gift card for Menard's which I just sold (I don't really shop Menard's) for $100. Then I called direct tv and told them my brother referred me and we now both get a $10 a month discount for the next year so really I'm saving $60 a month and told my brother he owned me a beer or two.

Since the Cowboys were not on here yesterday I got to see the game (saved another $40+ by not going to the sports bar).....for what that was worth.

Dish sucks man.. go with direct t.v and get the Sunday ticket for free. Then next season ask for it again.

I don't know about quality..I know football is broadcasted in 1080i so it'll look the same on any provider.

As far as channels go direct t.v has more sports channels and more kid channels as well. It's an easy choice for me.

They all use different compression schemes. The quality will vary. The best quality actually comes from a standard antenna, as the over the air signal isn't compressed.

Negotiate to the terms that you want that is reasonable. I have Dish and has had them for several years. I pay on time and every year I negotiate a 40 monthly credit to my bill. i pay about $40 a month for 200 channels. Hope this helps.

I was always a DirecTV guy until recently...

U-Verse gave me a good deal so I went with them. After two years I was fine with U-Verse but decided to go back with DirecTV for some reason.

DTV gave me a GREAT deal, then reneged on that deal the very night of the installation (Saturday Night). We told them no dice and they shut us off immediately. That was the night before the Superbowl so I had to go buy an antenna to watch the game.

We went back with U-Verse and they threw in an upgrade to GigaPower internet service. I pay $120 a month for everything...

Another thing about DTV, you have to REALLY watch your bill. They will continually creep it up every month and then before you know it, you are paying an extra $80 bucks a month. They'll give you free pay channels for three months to make up for it...

That being said, I like U-Verse better service-wise...

It seems like I get more free stuff with Uverse TV by choosing what I want online. I added EPIX free for one month and then I canceled online. A week later, the Epix channel online was available for free again for a month.

Did Direct TV buy you out of your DISH contract?

They said they would do that for switching.

Cut the cord pocket the savings and retire sooner rather than later.

I hate all cable companies, they are all crooks!

UVerse is better than Comcast until I have a problem with them......the Comcast becomes worse than UVerse. Rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat.....................

I'll talk to their Cancellation department and tell them what Direct TV will give me.
See what they say about cutting price to stay.

We just cut the cord and it is GLORIOUS!!!! We had DTV and our monthly cost started creeping upward after the first year. Their "solution" was to keep calling and ask for specials and even then it was costing us around $140 per month. We had Netflix and Amazon Prime already, so we just had to absorb the cost of Hulu ($11 for the commercial free subscription). I sent $70 to my brother get him to add streaming to his Sunday Ticket so I have that as well. I will probably buy a season pass to The Walking Dead, but that is about it for cost.

The best part is that the backlog of shows we want to watch is crazy long because we have watched very little network channels for the last five years. I was stoked to tell DTV to take a flying leap. They are crooks.

I went to Dish last April after being with TWC for 12 years. I had no problems with TWC. I eventually just got tired of the cable bill going up and me having to call and haggle to get a better price when I knew if I was a new customer I would get a much better deal. I went with Dish for two main reason. For the channels I want it's cheaper than DirectTV and they didn't have to mount the dish on the my roof like DirectTV said they would. I've been very happy with Dish. I haven't regretted the move yet. I kept my Internet through TWC as there is no other option for the speed I want. I would have cut the cord long ago but my wife didn't want to fiddle with streaming and stuff like that.
