Lol, great Dish net customer service...they are the worst.

Upgrading to an HD DVR a few months ago was like pulling teeth. They changed the price on me 4 times and then cancelled the installation 5 times before finally coming at 10pm one day, then the tech tried to give me a cheap rush job because he wanted to go home.

My girlfriend hates them as well. She had a tech out to her house a few weeks ago because she only received half the channels she was supposed to get and they were charging her for the most expensive package when she ordered the medium priced one...then the damn tech had the balls to hit on her in front of me while giving me go to hell looks

I can't wait till my contract is up so I can get something else.

DirecTV.

I've had it 10 years this past month and I've NEVER been with out service for more that 5-10 minutes max. And that was because of a torrential downpore.

So, rain knocks out a signal on a dish, AND you have to sign a CONTRACT to acquire this privilege? Man, that must suck!

The only time my cable goes out, is when I hit that little button at the top of the remote. Call me naive, but I kinda thought that's how it was SUPPOSED to work!?!

I had directv for a couple of years and have talked about the problems I had many times. I switched back to cable a couple of yrs ago.

I just found out today that Comcast is finally adding the NFLN in my area but on a sports tier.

I have had Directv since Feb 94. Lived in the west, Northeast, and the East in that time frame. Its never been off for more then 10 minutes- and that has happened maybe 6-8 times in 13 years. you cable guys- you really claim you have never lost cable? That is funny. Especially when I hear guys I work with always complaining about their cable going out on them.

I never said I haven't had outages with cable but I had more with Dtv than cable.

Yea, I was victim of the TW/Comcast takeover here last year, and lost the NFL Network in the process. I was PO'd royally for awhile and was ready to switch to Verizon after I saw them pulling cable in my neighborhood. I called TW, and they dropped my bill nearly $37 per, beating Verizon's price for just their basic pkg by nearly that same amount.

I have 3 digital boxes, 2 of which are DVR/HD. Verizon's price for this same pkg would be about $50-$60 more. Screw that!

Honestly, I've had cable, TV and Internet, since I've lived in this present house (94). My cable TV has gone out no more than twice, and those were them doing upgrades to the buried lines.

My cable I-net goes out far more often, maybe once every 6-10 weeks, but that is getting rarer and rarer. Even when it does, I just wait an hour or less and it's back up.

Further, until just recently, when I did need service, I could easily get a tech out within a 24-36 hour period, and even with the sometimes annoying "will show between _ and _" scheduling thing, I've NEVER had them NOT show.

No...normal rain does nothing.

Torrential rain MAY knock it out. But again for ONLY 5 Min's or so...most of the time less than 5 Min's.

I've NEVER had a Contract with DirecTV.

I have Time Warner for Internet and some times it's down for a day or more.

The worst was 3 days.

That has NEVER happened with DirecTV.

If that's the case, you're silly to remain their customer.

Funny... I've had Dish Network for over a year now and it's never went out on me, except for a couple of minutes during a down pour, then it just finds it's signal and keeps going. However when I had cable it was always going out. I guess it just works differently for some people.

Well I called and complained so they give it to me for half price for a year...so until that year is up I'll stick with them.

After that it could be Satellite Internet or DSL...If they don't keep giving me that price.

Strange, the local cable company loses signal every time it snows around here... sometimes, the cable is off for hours...

Meanwhile, as noted by others, I might lose my DirecTV signal for 10 minutes or so 2-3 times a year... but the cause is not rain, it's atmospheric conditions that interfere with the satellite signal... generally, solar flares are the reason...

And of course, I get better programming with my DirecTV than you get with your cable... ain't no way I'll EVER go back to cable, now that I've experienced la dolce vita with DirecTV...

nothing beats C-band and KU-band dishes. I miss mine.

Many, many years ago I got the big dish... that was truly paradise, EVERYTHING was free-- even the premium movie channels...

Then they wised up, and the good times came to an abrupt end... by the time I switched over to DirecTV, I was paying probably a grand a year for programming, and only getting about 30-40 channels...

Ah, the good ol' days...
