After looking at some stats from him and his combine, I am absolutely with him being drafted by the Cowboys we need a speed WR finally and my god we need one that is 6'4! We passed om Moss once, I really don't want to do it again. Im not saying he is Moss, I just mean he is 6'4 with great potential.

Is Chark a guy that we would need to trade for? Isn't he projected early second?

I've been off the interwebs for a few and need to catch up!

I hear you and like him ok too.
But you left the one main ingregient out in your evalution and decision to draft him; what he actually looks like playing the game. Game film...then stats, measurables.
He has a rep as a body catcher.
Fwiw, I think that rep is way overblown.. some truth, but only very partially.

If we dont take a WR in the 1st, and he's there at 50, he could be the guy.

Chark can't hold the jock strap of Randy Moss.

Chark is a faster version of TWill.

Matt Miller's write-up on

DJ Chark

POSITIVES

—Excellent height with enough weight to be featured receiver in an offense.

—Explosive down the field and throughout break points.

—Double moves are violent and instantaneous and can create separation in a hurry.

—NFL-caliber deep speed with suddenness to stack routes on top of DB immediately; body control to fight down the field in motion.

—Shot plays are valuable in NFL, and that's what Chark is best at. His one trick is a very good trick.

NEGATIVES

—Doesn't have the upper-body strength or technique to separate from quality press corners.

—LSU doesn't do any favors to receivers in helping project them to NFL.

—Tendency to telegraph intermediate in-breaking routes with rounded crossover step from outside foot.

—Limited route-runner overall that has to prove he can win without the theatrics of a double move.

—Slow pace when he's getting hammered at the line of scrimmage that will disrupt timing routes on offense.

OVERALL

D.J. Chark has prototypical NFL size (6'3", 199 lbs) and speed (4.34) as a boundary receiver. He can open up and run past defenders or use double moves to create separation on intermediate routes. Chark will have to develop as a technician to continue succeeding against NFL cornerbacks. With a long frame and thinner upper-body, he is going to be challenged by even average press corners that can disrupt his timing off the line of scrimmage. Fortunately, Chark has enough athleticism and natural size to warrant a few years of coaching to become a top-tier wide receiver.

Agree about body catching being over blown. I see traits that show promise. Tough to project due to college situation. I would feel better about a third round or later gamble. Better options should be available at 50.

For the record, Chark measured just under 6'-3" (6'-2" and some change) at the Combine. How he ended up at 6'-4" is silly.

Reminds me of how folks were saying Chido was a "big corner at 6'-1"" when he really measured 5'-11" at the Combine.

Yeah, Matt Miller came out with WR rankings and had him 5th
Not sure I'd have him quite that high, though I do like him well enough

I seriously can't stand anyone that talks about a players height and is wrong. It's really not that damn difficult to estimate height within an inch. I don't watch any draft expert anymore because literally none of them were close to right about manziels height a few years ago. Even this year everyone was shocked at DJ Moores height and it vaulted him up their draft board.

Use your ******* eyes people, if you can't estimate height correctly you are probably off about everything else you think is right.
