we have this notion that Dallas isnt very good and hey get no pressure. And some people say this when they see teams going 1 step and quick pass or short gun with a primary read then a dump off. Thats not Dallas not having pressure but thats a team trying to get it out quick.

Dallas is 12th in the NFL with 34 sacks. And only 3 teams in the playoff hunt have more sacks then them(GB, SEA, TB). And that doesnt even tell the whole story about how good this DL is playing now. Over the last month Dallas leads the league in sacks.

Dallas is 1st in the nfl against the run.

Credit is deserved for this DL. They are really young too so theyre only going to get better. IDK if in this coming draft i would put DL over secondary in the draft.

Carr, Claiborne, Wilcox are all FAs. Scandrick is a injury bug lately too. CBs are really deep this draft whereas DEs coming out more tweeners then true DEs. Then with the way Irving, Mayowa are playing its going to be hard to crack that lineup with players like Tapper and Lawrence there too.

It's pretty close to great. Last year, our DL was 16th vs the pass and 21st vs the run.

Thank God we secured the 1st round bye and locked up the #1 seed early because about 1/2 the DL on the active roster needs those 2 weeks to heal up for the playoff push.

DLaw, C. Thornton, T. McClain, T. Crawford, they need the extra time. I don't think any of these guys made the trip to Philly, which is great because I want them to spend the next 2 weeks focused on rest and rehab for that 1st playoff game.

The Might Orphans need to keep improving to take us to Houston.

I love our no name group but we all know their success is linked directly to the success of Ezekiel Elliott. If our offense does face any troubles, we need them to wield us to victory.

Our defense is definitely something to get excited about though. I remember the Giants teams that won the SB, their defense was average all year but turned on in December which carried on to the playoffs. Same can be said about the Ravens a few years ago.

Agreed. Nice post. The #1 priority coming out of the Eagles game should be to come out clean with no more injuries.

I worry somewhat about having so many players on defense having so much time between the next meaningful game. But I just figure that means the offense needs to come out in our first playoff game and get us a lead. The first quarter on defense might be a little sketchy as everyone gets back up to game speed.

But we'll see.

The opposite might turn out to be true. The extra time off might make them even better. Who can really say?

Plenty of teams have won championships with defenses worse than this one.
That's true, with the caveat that nearly all of those defenses played better in the postseason than they did in the regular season. This one is definitely trending in the right direction.

We can probably count on facing at least one QB who's playing better than any other QB was at the time we faced him this season.

Can you please re-phrase this? I'm having trouble understanding what you meant by it. Sorry.

Let's assume Dalvin Cook is that lifetime talent available when we pick, do you select him? Would you select him?

This is how each QB was ranked in passer rating, going into his game against the Cowboys.

Manning --
Cousins 27th
Hoyer --
Gabbert 30th
Dalton 13th
Rodgers 17th
Wentz 16th
Kessler 14th
Roethlisberger 17th
Flacco 29th
Cousins 10th
Bradford 10th
Manning 22nd
Winston 20th
Stafford 11th
Wentz 25th

The defense has improved since we beat the Packers, but then so has Rodgers.

Since we will be towards the bottom of the first round, there will likely be a range of players with a similar draft grade you can choose from. Pick the guy at the position where you need the most help.
