DL bench #s - new record set

Paea is too small for the 3-4. Too bad because I'm a huge fan. Plus, I still think he could be a 1st rounder or early 2nd at the least, even after the knee injury

Wouldn't say he's too small, he will be heavier than Rat and Rat has been the best NT in the game 2 out of the past 3 years.

No denying that Paea, like Rat, is best suited for a one gapping scheme, but I wouldn't say he is too small for a 3-4.

There are many NTs as lauded or less who came into the league at a similar height and/or weight and have been successful. Casey Hampton is the same height (6'1) and weighed less than 315 at the combine. Hampton is now over 335 lbs. Rubin is 1.5 inches taller but not nearly as strong or as quick. Kelly Gregg was the Ravens' NT for many years and is shorter than Paea and nowhere as strong, or as quick. Gregg came into the league at barely over 300 lbs. He still only plays at 320. Again all these examples are 3-4 NTs.

And like those guys, Paea's forte is stopping the run. His low center of gravity allows him to get under the OLs pads and gain leverage, if he is not running by the guys in front of him. Paea is both stronger and more explosive, and like Russell Maryland (6'1 310) is a great character guy with amazing work ethic and plays to the whistle and while hurt.

excellent post, People get so hung up on actual height's and overall size sometimes. one guy writes that the kids too small for a certain scheme and everyone jumps on his bandwagon. how many times have we now seen great players who were "too small" or "too slow" go on to be have great careers. Not saying this guy is great but to just dismiss him so nonchalantley because he a inch to small or 5 pounds to light c'mon now.

Quinn had almost as many reps as Dareus (who is 315 plus). Pull up your skirt your hate is showing. You really are an attention *****. :D

Didn't mean to diss your fiance, sorry. I wish you two many years of happiness, maybe I can be the godfather when you two have your first child together?

Anyone else see Rob Ryan wooping it up when Paea set the Combine record for bench press reps at 49? Something tells me that he'd love to see him to fall to us at 40, although his performance today makes that unlikely.

I think Maryland was 273 as a rookie. Not sure if he ever got to 300.

I'm a huge Paea fan and always saw him as a 1st round pick. I'd be thrilled if we got him in the 2nd, he's a gamer, but I don't think there's any way he falls that far. Maybe in a trade down scenario we could work it out.

Oh wait a second, wasn't Quinn supposed to do 75 reps or something and jump through the roof of the bulding?

Why the sarcasm?

Quinn pushed the Earth down 22 times.

lmao. No, it's not.

They did say on NFLN that it was a record at 49 so it's not Glory's fault. The record is at 51 like Sdogo said.

I actually don't have any problems with Quinn and think he could be a fine NFL player, I just have a problem with the superhuman perception of him and the ridiculous idea that he IS Ware, Peppers, or some other elite pass rusher.

Ware could have a twin brother, a genetically identical copy of himself, and even his twin probably couldn't do the things he does.

Speaking of which, did anyone see Mike Pouncey much? I missed all his workouts.

Right. Maryland was a 274 lb nfl rook. Toward the end of his career he was at 308-310. And that was a listed weight. He was likely heavier.

No one said he IS Ware, Peppers or anyone else. It is a comparison but of course you can't fathom such a thing as a comparison.

Bench pressing 225 49 takes an incredible amount of endurance and strength. I can't even imagine.

There is no comparison.

And actually, I have seen at least one person say he is Ware.
