2014 - Lawrence, Gardner, Bishop
2015 - Gregory, Russell
2016 - Collins, Tapper
2017 - Charlton, Ivie, Carrell
2018 - Amstrong
2019 - Hill, Jackson, Jelks

I will give him Lawrence. Collins was hurt too often but I will give him that one. Hill is too early but looks to be iffy. Armstrong looks like a waste. 14 picks. 10 busts. Gregory??? A terrible record. Thoughts?

To be fair how many of those were round 4 to 7 picks? Charlton is the one that hurt. Had he developed into something the narrative would be a lot different.

Rods biggest weakness seemed to be his confidence in being able to turn any high effort player into starters. Turns out it takes more than that at the nfl level.

LOL. Same GM and VP of Player Personnel drafted all those players.

You guys who try to scapegoat Garrett and Marinelli for the last decade's failures kill me.

Did they have influence? Sure.

The Jones were in charge then and are in charge now.

Yes but Marinelli was such a great coach. He would just coach them up.

Don't get me wrong. I'm glad he's gone. But it's unfair to judge him throwing all those 6th and 7th rounders in there.

The pick that really stands out is the Taco pick. Cowboy fans will forever wonder 'what if' had the Cowboys drafted TJ instead.

imagine holding position coaches accountable for 7th rounders not panning out Lmao.

Gregory when on the field has been solid, Collins, solid, Dlaw one of the best, the only true whiff was Taco.

Gregory has been on the field 28 times in 4 seasons. Tapper a 3. Armstrong a 4. Hill is dubious. You got a couple 5s. You have 1 starter and...

Rod was so good he’d coach them up, right? Most of these guys barely got a sniff in the league. It’s a bad record.

Let me ask this. What does Gregory's amount of games played have to do with Rod? Hmm?

One starter? What the hell was Collins? Lol.

5th rounders also don't pan out on average.

Leave off the late rounders. That's padding the numbers. Gardner, Bishop, Ivie, Carroll.

Put Gregory on Jerry. It was a calculated risk. We knew there were issues and tried to get a top player cheap. We should expect that *most* such deals *don't* work.

But Tapper, Charlton, Armstrong. Ouch. That's some quality picks whiffing in a small window.

If Hill is a whiff too, that's top 4 round picks whiffing 4 years in a row on the dline, including a 1st and a 2nd. Complete fail.

Is this McClay, or did they defer to the Dline Whisperer?

I don't think Gregory was Rod's choice or even Garrett choice. If he turns out what he was projected to be than that would be great.

Was Marinelli the DC when Lawrence was drafted, or was it 90 year old Monte Kiffin?

Aside from T.J. Watt, what other great defensive linemen did Marinelli shun?

Read my first post. I gave him Collins. I was referring to what we are left with. I don’t hang Gregory’s issues on Rod. Although Gregory to date has been a colossal bust as a second rounder. It’s ok that you are on Rod’s side. It’s cute actually.

I am under the opinion that Rod is not a good judge of talent.

Lawrence and Gregory were pretty much blue chip prospects. Lawrence had a pretty high floor, and Gregory would have been a Top-10 pick if he didn’t have his issues.

But his “projects” so far have done nothing in the NFL. And don’t forget he was reportedly “banging on the table” for Taco over Watt.

Every time this is brought up, people tell me “well he coached Sapp and Simeon rice!!1!14!!!!”, as if anyone with a brain couldn’t have coached them.

And even if he did, that was 20 years ago. If he’s the DL wizard people think he is, he should have more good DLinemen under his belt.
