BATON ROUGE — LSU senior defensive tackle Drake Nevis might not turn in another award-winning performance against Mississippi State on Saturday, but if he does, don’t be surprised.
Nevis is off to as fast a start as anyone in the Southeastern Conference and leads the league with 3 1/2 quarterback sacks after two games. Nevis registered a career-high 2 1/2 sacks in last week’s 27-3 victory over Vanderbilt in which the Tigers collected six sacks as a team and now rank first nationally with 10. LSU didn’t reach that number until the eighth game last season.
