lets say ware doesn't take a pay cut and we cut him. saving a ton of cap space. I would pass on Hatcher, because he is older and had injury history. had only one full year, which was his contract year.then in FA go after.

Lamar Houston
Henry Melton
Linval Joseph.

if we could still sign spencer to a one year contract and still draft DL in the first two rounds, still taking Donald if he is available. then we take the Seattle approach and platoon the DL. We did the same thing during our superbowl runs. Outside of Haley, we rotated DL men like crazy and wore out offense and continuously attacked the offense as opposed to sit back and react.

I'd low offer to Jared Allen to replace Ware, maybe even Peppers too if he's cut but nothing more than 2 yr deals. Melton would be my top choice to play the 3 tech and he might come cheaper than most think with his injury and off the field issue.

Why do peple always use the "contract yr" when players have a good yr. Like all of the sudden they just turn into superman. Maybe just maybe Hatcher was better suited to play a 4-3?

I posted it in another thread but if Langford is available, I'd seriously consider trying to go after him. He's got something like two more years on his existing contract but he could be a cap casualty if the Rams decide to go in that direction. This is a deep class at DT IMO and they have plenty of opportunity to pick up a really good one in the draft if they decide to go that way.

and that's the risk. he is 32, he had been injury prone. now we switch to 4-3 and he shines. will he do that again? or was it the move to 4-3? its risky to pay him a long term contract or lot of money. kind of reminds me of Rat....

Hatcher is 32 with one good year and looking for a payday that he "deserves"

Walk away

Sign Joseph, draft Donald, smith, Gardner, moala

Cheaper younger and healthier

I do recall much chatter from him about his "big payday" rather have guys who talk about winning is everything. Lee is a guy like that just can't stay on the field. Looking for lots of new DL blood to rotate in 14'

Hatcher is a good player but not worth what he thinks he should be paid

I expect he will be asking for 3 years at about 4.25 per and he will get paid by somebody. As for Dallas it is a little much for a player who very well may decline during this contract.

I'd chase Lamarr Houston and Arthur Jones. I'd wait on Allen and see what our situation looks like after the draft. At that point there will be June 1st cuts. Who knows what drops out of that wave.

Not just no, but hell no to Jared Allen.

Oakland has a huge amount of cap space. The most in the league IIRC. I would expect them to re-sign Houston. At 300+ lbs, he would probably be a 3 tech DT in Marinelli's scheme.

Authur Jones would be a good 1 tech and the Ravens have had some cap issues.

They can't wait until after the draft to sign free agents. They will be off the market by then.
