DLaw's hardline stance may result in him losing favor with Cowboys fans even if he signs a contract.
Unless it is revealed that the Cowboys are offering him shotty deal, he will come across as a selfish player not concerned about having a good team around him.
If he signs a deal in the $20 million per year range, fans will accept that and scrutinize him but he will be scrutinized more if he get's a deal above the other top DE's.
It's hard to garner sympathy when you're complaining about being disrespected at only making $20 mill a year.
At $20 mill, the fan expectations will be high but if he were to get paid as the top DE, we will expect all-world domination. $20 mill is the going rate for top 5 DE's but being the Top Dog will require no excuse Freakish performance.
We all know that he is just below that Mack/Von Miller level.
It will be interesting to see if it's the avg per year or the guaranteed $ that is the hold up. He may be willing to accept the $20 mill range but just wants a huge guarantee.

We don't necessarily know that D Law has done anything because he has remained pretty silent on the matter during the negotiation period.

Could be his agent that's being difficult. They want their cut too.

I have no issue with a player wanting whatever money they want nor do I look down on teams who are unwilling to overpay for a player no matter how good they are.

That said, I would not sign DLaw to a long term contract until he has the surgery. He is more than capable of getting an insurance policy if he's worried the surgery may endanger his career.

Now this is funny....Jerry Jones has been
alienating fans/players for over 30 years.....Now D-Law is the problem? Typical backstabbing ownership move to lowball a player.

But please continue Jerry to tell everyone how broke you are....

This is the part I don’t understand about today’s nfl. Why do they need Agents? Can’t they sign a contract and read over the terms by them selves?

It does not matter one way or the other of he performs. If he comes out and get 15-18 sacks at 23 mill nobody is going to complain how he got the 23 mill. If he only gets 10 sacks and settles for 20 mill he will be raked over the coals. You ask for the big money, you better earn it or fans will be all over you!

I read that Tank wants 22.5m, is that the 20m range? The Cowboys offered 20m, that is in the range. Seems they're in the same range for grenades and horshoes :muttley:

The same reason musician's started making their own labels. They were taken advantage of for years. Better to have someone who understands law, and contracts.

Well it's almost like retaining counsel.

I can't imagine a 24 or 25 year old kid who is not classically trained in negotiation trying to negotiate a business dealing with billionaire NFL owners the likes of the Joneses.

He feels like an alien, she feels like an alien. We all feel like aliens and alienated. Does Tank care, no he feels like an alien and is alienated. Love that word

I’ve got no issue with DLaw. These high level contract negotiations are a cutthroat business. And it goes both ways. As fans, it’s best to bury your head in sand until it’s resolved.

I think all NFL players should have to get paid what we, as fans, deem is an appropriate amount after careful analysis of their productivity. In fact, OP, I’d like to have a few words with your boss about your salary as well.
