stats-wise, he is at 5.5 sacks.
over a 16 game period, that extrapolates to ~14 sacks like last year.
but the shoulder issue is not going to get better.
he had the shoulder issue for 2 years but perhaps it is blowing up now.
he also had a dive in stats last year but it happened much later in the season.
he may be ~10 sacks at the end of the season.
what should happen to a contract?
he said he would not accept another tag, but that may be in his best interest.

Will just wait until after the season. No reason to even think about it right now. A lot can happena and change yet.

Been reported it was a torn labrum, but this morning I heard it was a dislocated shoulder issue.

I read that it was both...the torn labrum has been there, now into a second season. Then, the shoulder popped out in last week's game. At least that's the way I understood it.

LOL...……...no chance. He will want 18-20 million a year. I wouldn't do anything more than a 3 year contract. If we could get it at 15 million per season that would be a bargain considering the other prices.
I'm sure Tank and his agent will strive for such ridiculous, team-strapping contract numbers, but he simply can't stay healthy. Last year was the only year he has played all 16 games in a season. This year, he's already injured, thus playing limitedly. No way in Hades does that equate to such ridiculous new contract numbers.

how long does a dislocated shoulder typically take?

None the less its what he will ask for. And if he gets another 14 sacks this year, injure or not, he will be in the ballpark with the best paid lineman in the NFL. I just wouldn't do anything long term with him. If we could get 3 years that would be great.

D-Law excels against the run and the pass.

Basically, close to a K. Mack, but he doesn't get the same hype, even after last year.

I doubt he takes a long term contract unless it's close to Mack's. Which IIRc has an out after 4 years, and 90 or so million to him, with only 6 mil dead cap when cut, and cap savings of 17.7mil.

I think we need to sign him. at about 14, 15 or 16 mill a year. two 8 mill DEs don't equal a 16 mill DE....he has been proven and has consistently produced over the past couple of years and best DE we have. unless you want to roll the dice with Irvin and Taco

3 years 50 million. 40 million guaranteed and 20 million signing bonus. He may take that. But wait till seasons end. If his stats drop then so will the price. That’s from any team. He is counting on other teams driving up the price but if he had less than 10-12 sacks then the offer won’t be 17 million a year like he thinks.

Likely both are the issue. Once the labrum tears the shoulder is easier to dislocate. If it is a tear he probably needs surgery then 4-6 weeks to heal, then 4-6 weeks to strengthen.

he can't sign till season's end.

I'd say about 80% guaranteed, which would make it $44 mil guaranteed within a 5 year deal, which comes out to $8.8 mil/season guaranteed.

Not bad, don't you think? Fair deal?

I don't think that's remotely near market value, even with those concerns you've listed. He's a top DE, young and will likely be paid like one, here or elsewhere. If they franchise him again, well that will be interesting.

he will be 27 next season.
no long young.
and the injury stuff makes him not top tier, at least half tier down

Yea, some aren't paying attention to the deals the edge/any linemen are getting nowadays. May not get top cheddar due to injuries, but some team will pay him between Vernon and Mack money easily. He isn't an one trick pony and 27 is the same age as Mack.
He's in his prime now, and should be for another 3-4 years depending on injuries.
