DLaw future

No offense, but I am so tired of hearing this dumb narrative about not paying certain players. How often have we had a true disruptive force like D-Law at end since the SB era? Ware? At best maybe you could make a case for 2-3 D-line players we have had since the SB era who are as dominant as D-Law. These are the guys you take chances on and pay. Lawrence had quite a few injuries early in his career and overcame them to be a perennial talent. Dak is who you don't overpay, not 90.

I don't think it'll be a good idea to sign D-Law for more than 12 Million per year. Don't get me wrong, DLaw has put up amazing numbers since last year and pretty solid this year but what do you expect from a player in a contract year?? I look at it as finally getting a return investment in production from a player we spent a lot of resources to draft but hasn't live up to the hype until his contact year came into discussion.

stats-wise, he is at 5.5 sacks.
over a 16 game period, that extrapolates to ~14 sacks like last year.
but the shoulder issue is not going to get better.
he had the shoulder issue for 2 years but perhaps it is blowing up now.
he also had a dive in stats last year but it happened much later in the season.
he may be ~10 sacks at the end of the season.
what should happen to a contract?
he said he would not accept another tag, but that may be in his best interest.

Sorry, he needs to get resigned. Don't look at just the stats. That Gregory sack yesterday was all Tank - he crashed into the backfield and forced the quarterback right into Gregory's arms.

There is a quote from Tank in a tweet where he basically laughed off getting 50% snaps against the Jags. It is concerning, he's been nonexistent for two straight games. If his play continues to suffer, or he gets shutdown for surgery, it will effect his next contract, it goes without being said. But it's been two games, it's hard to predict right now. He's at a low point, let's see if he picks it up here at WSH.

What a massive hit to the line if this persists much longer, tho. He was on a damned terror to start the first four weeks. The line was better this past week (helped getting Collins and Irving back), but pretty bad the week prior.

They don't like to spend money. They are probably saving for Zeke and daks new contracts. Jaylon Smith should be due for one soon too
and thinking like that is why they are who they are....pay a RB and LB over a pro bowl DE. not smart.

Smith is a RFA, so they could qualify him with a 1st round tender and make him play on that.

5 year contract, $11 mil/season.
Lol.

He's making about $17M this year. Now you expect him to take a $6M a year pay cut? I don't think so.

He's going to ask for Khalil Mack money, which he won't get. Not should he. He will get something less. But not much less. $18M-$20M a year is what you are looking at.

If it's not with the Cowboys, it will be from somebody else.

if he does not get surgery, it sounds like his play and stats will suffer.
but looks like surgery will be offseason

no sacks the last 2 full games and OT..its a wait and see thing but he tends to disappear in big games or moments//where was he in late 4th and OT for Htown loss?I know DW is hard to catch but we need a guy who makes 17mil to flash during big games and big moments not just get sacks against weak lines..I like him but im worried hes waiting for surgery until he gets the he guaranteed deal and then we have no idea ho he will be after, add in the back and thats high risk..

He needs to get going here, he was neck-to-neck with the other greats in the league, and it clearly showed up on the field through the 1st quarter of the season. I still think if he is playing, he's a top edge rusher... he'll get going, but the time is now! :)

If his shoulder is hurting and hindering him so much as to render him an average player, after 4-5 more games (there's a bye in there, too), he needs to get the surgery, imo (for his sake). And that's when his next contract gets dicey, as well as losing our elite left end for the rest of the year.

Give it a few more weeks? I am, at least :)

someone said recovery for surgery is 4-5 weeks.
he does not have a lot of time.
if his play is suffering, he needs to get surgery asap

I've had Labium surgery on my shoulder. My shoulder is better than ever. It's not a career impacting injury.

Non existent? I don't know what you were watching. He was constantly applying pressure and flushing the QB to the other side or making them step up. In the game against Houston he had to stay in his lane to contain Watson yet still able to push that pocket all the way into Watson's lap many times.
Sometimes you can't judge DE simply by number of sacks he gets. He's a premier DE in the league and will get paid like one.

Will just wait until after the season. No reason to even think about it right now. A lot can happena and change yet.

Been reported it was a torn labrum, but this morning I heard it was a dislocated shoulder issue.
can be one in the same. A torn labrum will make your shoulder unstable and sudden shoulder movements can cause it pop out and back in. The good news is if you let it heal without surgery the popping in and out stops hurting but the shoulder gets very loose. I had a torn labrum and simply walking and the weight of the arm would cause it to slide in and out of socket.
