You should know my stance on PFF....their grading isn't perfect but it's another tool to consider for the sake of evaluation. Their stat recording is the most complex of any organization out there and is used by actual NFL teams.

PFF has the best metrics of any site trying to rank players. They grade every player on every play, and there are 3 checks on those grades with the final one being done by former NFL scouts. The player rankings give a great insight into whose playing well and whose not long before most media pick up on it.

Whenever it comes time to work out an extension with him, this year or next, what if he wants Von Miller money? What do you do? I just don't think the team could withstand that kind of contract currently. We'd have to let Martin walk in order to do it.

We could sign him to a Von Miller contract, sign Martin and sign who we want in FA. The reason for that is the same with other contracts: restructures.

I understand that restructuring can be a useful tool but it can also be a devil in disguise...one of the reasons we got into cap hell was all of the irresponsible restructuring we did. I'm not saying you're wrong necessarily but the thought of it does scare me a bit.

I couldn't agree more.....I've always been reluctant to see big contracts given after a "breakout season" which also just happens to be their "contract year"......I too believe in the show me again season to make sure it wasn't just extra effort because it was a contract year.

I don't believe in the contract year nonsense, it's something made up by fans to me and the data doesn't support it. Nevertheless, I can see possible wisdom with making the player do it one more year to prove it...but if he has a season just as good or even better, financially it could come back to bite us in the *** because the contract might be worse than what it could have been. It's a gamble either way.

Restructuring didn't put us in cap hell. Restructuring is how we learned to get out of it. We got into cap trouble because we didn't understand how to use restructuring to manipulate the cap, so we took heavy hits that we now move around and spread out to maximize space and create room for whatever signings we want. (Again, in the early days of the cap, Dallas didn't know how to do this and suffered for it, which gives the cap hell perception that fans still have today.)

We don't need PFF to see that DLaw is a absolute stud on the field. Like with most things, PFF has good and bad.

Again, it wasn't restructuring at all. We didn't know how to use restructuring back then. Now, it's something Dallas builds into every big contract it hands out. It is the way of doing business today and it works so we shouldn't be shocked or fearful of it anymore.

Not disagreeing with you, I just don't trust this front office to manage the cap correctly I guess. It's a constant fear I have with this team.
