oh the irony of not signing with Dallas as feeling "weird" about his rivals possibly being his teammates vs going back to that ****storm know as the Philadelphia Eagles...

Wasn't impressed by this guy, so not disappointed that he didn't come here

What will not be weird is when Dez burns him for a few TD's in each game this season....then he will have 2nd thoughts, each time he gets burned.

About that visit... Carroll told Elliot Shor-Parks of NJ.com that after two years with the Eagles, seeing players he has only known only as rivals was a strange feeling:

"It was just weird. Being [in Philadelphia], playing here, knowing that I played against those guys a few times. It felt weird," Carroll said. "To be in the facility and see some of the players I played against ... it was different."
Oh look. An embedded link. Let's click and follow it to the source article. Wait. Carroll said this too?
Nolan Carroll said:
I felt like throughout the whole process, all of the other visits, this felt like the best fit for me.
You mean, Carroll may have visiting teams other than Dallas and still re-signed with the Eagles?

This is yet another example why some players dislike speaking with the media. Readers and listeners cannot received the full gist of what players say because what they state is sometimes blurbed and interpreted according to what a media outlet wants the public to read or hear.

Anyone wanting to read more of Carroll's thoughts about re-signing with Philadelphia can follow this link:

Carroll felt weird about his visit to Dallas. Cedric Thornton visited Dallas, wasn't shocked and signed with the Cowboys. Guess they're two different people...

Actually, I understand why Carroll felt weird. The problem is the author trying to tie that to there being something offputting to free agents about Dallas when this is clearly a case of a player feeling strange about visiting a team that had been his rival. I guess in the writer's mind, Long and Moore must have felt weird, too, since they chose not to sign. I'm surprised he didn't make more out of Long not even showing up for dinner. That's how offputting coming to Dallas must have been for him.

If Dallas had thrown enough money at any of those players, that weird feeling would have gone away. Instead of looking at the fact that Jones is no longer the top bidder in FA, some have to come up with a reason why FA no longer want to come to Dallas.

He also has to try and save face with his team mates, after he almost crossed the rival line.

The one that knows the words "Dallas Cowboys" is worth a minimum 10,000 clicks.
What's interesting is that in Nick Eatman's book, "If These Walls Could Talk", Darren Woodson acknowledges this about ESPN.

"And as I’ve transitioned my career from player to ESPN analyst, I’ve grown to appreciate the Cowboys’ brand even more. Even without the recent success on the field, there is no team more relevant than the Cowboys. In our production meetings at ESPN, we’re always trying to talk about the Cowboys or Tony Romo because we know that’s what sells. The Cowboys have always been America’s Team and always will be."

The Cowboys haven't made any splash signings in free agency, but they have welcomed plenty of free agents to Valley Ranch this spring.
One of those free agents was Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Nolan Carroll. Carroll re-signed with the Eagles last week on a one-year deal after visiting the Cowboys days before.

He definitely could have had some more positive things to say about his visit, especially since there is a growing trend this offseason of players coming to visit the Cowboys and leaving without signing, a stark contrast to how free agency has gone for Dallas in the past.

Whether there is something about the Cowboys that is offputting to free agents orif  it's just the stench of a 4-12 season still surrounding the facility remains to be seen, but this can't be encouraging news for the 'Boys.

Maybe because JJ is a creepy old man? Or Red is a HC that isn't really viewed very positively these days? Let's face it, other than the circus like stadium, what does this franchise really have going for it? I love the Cowboys and have since 1978 but a guy like this couldn't care less about the glory days. We're just another team and have been for quite some time. He was probably in 1st grade (or so) when we last won the super bowl in '95. Ancient history.....sad but true.

And two seasons ago, when Dallas had a 12 game win regular season and were robbed from the NFC Championship by a lousy call on Dez Bryant...I'm sure that you were saying ah shyte Jerry, the entire season...yea, right. And he has memories of that, or doesn't know English as well as being potty trained.

It's because in this era any news from the NFL is a story. He said it felt weird and they actually created a story about it.

I don't think the player said anything wrong or newsworthy but that's just the way it is now.

If it wasnt weird for him there would have to be something wrong with him. Going to a rival should be very weird.

It's a poorly written piece.

A guy who's spent the last few years of his career making somewhere home feels slightly "homesick" visiting another team and desires to sign with his old club. That's all it is. Same might be said for someone like Dunbar or Hanna about their visits elsewhere before signing back...right?

He's from Phili, of course everything is weird to him. Everything is nice and clean and our buildings aren't run down looking. He probably thought he stepped into a time machine and traveled to the future.

Maybe he felt he needed to say something to placate the Philly fans from thinking he's a "traitor" who would dare to consort with the enemy.

On the other hand, the fact that he considered playing for Dallas for a price might possibly have convinced Philly to offer him more. Weird.
