KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Miles Austin scored the winning touchdown in overtime on a 60-yard catch-and-run to cap a huge game in place of the injured Roy Williams, and the Dallas Cowboys escaped with a 26-20 victory Sunday over Kansas City.

Austin had 10 catches for 250 yards as the Cowboys survived numerous mistakes against the winless Chiefs.

Austin also had a tackle-breaking 59-yard touchdown catch to give the Cowboys (3-2) a 20-13 lead with 2:16 left in the fourth quarter. On both plays, he slipped the grasp of cornerback Maurice Leggett and then made safety Mike Brown miss.

The loss dropped the Chiefs (0-5) to 2-28 in their last 30 games, tying the expansion Tampa Bay of the 1970s for one of the worst 30-game droughts in NFL history.

Bob Hayes held the single-game receiving record of 246 yards, set all the way back in 1966. In fact, all three of the top receiving days in team history were set back in the 1960s. Frank Clarke had 241 yards back in 1962 and Lance Rentzel had 233 back in 1967.

But the record now belongs to Austin, who had 250 today. Not bad for a guy making his first start.

The man deserves more of a role in this team now.

Crayton was dreadful today on both receiving and punt returns. We really needed him to step up, but he picked an awful day to be off. Thank God for Miles Austin.

Miles Austin is the best "overall" receiver on this team.

Honestly, I think people forget just how potent our offense was with Owens, Crayton and Austin.

The addition of Roy Williams last year really hurt his development.

Miles Austin would have already been putting up strong numbers on a team like the Giants, Eagles or Patriots as their coaches know how to recognize talent and work them into the Game plan.

Jason Garrett has made so many monumental mistakes like not getting Austin integrated into the Offense that I have no idea why he has a job.

Oh wait, Troy Aikman proclaimed him the next great Head Coach.

:laugh2: I wonder if pun was even intended.

I doubt it. If it was Powers and not powers, then I believe it would have been intentional.

Where's JBell saying we don't have any YAC-style receivers? Funny how the critics go invisible after a breakout game.

What, there's comp on this team? You must be thinking of the other 31 NFL teams because on this team the veteran starts and plays no questions asked. Just ask Felix last year against Washington. Imagine if we had Chris Johnson, he would still be a nobody today.
