Well, the main point I took from it is that before/after every practice and game, Romo will have to do some core exercises. We should also expect him to have some extended days off occasionally. If it takes him four days of missed practices occasionally, but he'll be ready on game day, then that's what they'll do.

I think it is a great piece about ROMO and what went on. But again walking around nursing a back in one thing...having 300 lb linemen steamrolling towards you and pouncing on you is another. Let me see him take a couple of blindside hits from safeties with a full head of steam and then i will pass judgement. There is nothing you can say or do except have a wait and see attitude along with hope and prayer that he makes it thru the season and the years he has remaining here....because if he goes down any chances we have go down with him.

A really good read about Romo's rehab by Moore.

It makes me wonder if Romo could be even better now. There were questions about his physical condition at times in the past. All of this core work could actually improve the velocity on his passes at an age where most QBs might be losing some velocity.

It was interesting according to the article what he will have to do EVERY DAY in the morning and at night for the REST OF HIS LIFE. He's playing, he's getting paid a lot of money and he's the QB of the Dallas Cowboys so the natural reaction is duh.

I'd do it too as would most of you.

But imagine when he's 54, 20 years later, and 74, 40 years later, and he still has to do these things just to function day to day.
Life is certainly a trade off.

I can speak from personal experience, low back (or back injuries in general, especially vertebral) can linger for quite some time and flare up off and on out of nowhere. I hope the training staff has been/is having him to lots of reverse hypers, planks -- core work in the static or stabilized positions and yes people, strengthening the glutes as well. Keeping good flexibility in the hip flexors, hamstrings, quads and low back is vital.

Just out of curiosity - do you work out a lot on your glutes (lunges, etc) and core?

ive always loved romo. hes the dirk nowitzki of the cowboys. great player, very little respect from the media (changed for dirk after his title) blamed for not winning the big game like it was 100% his fault. i just hope he has a chance to win superbowl before he finishes his career so that he can shut up all the doubters.

If he starts having issues I hope they Force him to sit out instead of hurting himself more. They should have yanked him by force earlier last year, does nobody any good to cripple the man...

Mainly compound movements, no "isolation" for the glutes. Deadlifts, sumo deadlifts, hip bridges, kettlebell swings etc. A lot of posterior chain exercises inherently will work the glutes at some portion of the lift.

And yes I do work them both out, I compete in amateur powerlifting.
