Jon Kitna has never been known as a mobile quarterback. But running the ball has contributed significantly to his success as a backup with the Dallas Cowboys.

At 38, Kitna has used his smarts and legs to avoid sacks, keep drives alive and actually move the chains. He has rushed 30 times for 140 yards, including a 29-yard touchdown against Detroit. Nimble Tony Romo had 38 yards on six carries before getting injured in the sixth game.

Kitna ranks 10th in rushing yards for NFL quarterbacks, 10 yards behind Pittsburgh's Ben Roethlisberger and 15 yards ahead of Tennessee's Vince Young. Kitna has played in two fewer games than eight on the top-10 list.

Hope Romo's been watching this. The scrambling downfield is something Romo needs to bring back into his arsenal. It's usually there for Romo too.

I must say watching kitna these past weeks has been great. he hasnt been as good as romo, but its just incredible, dude is 38 years old!! but hes such a competitor and a professional he has been doing anything and everything to help us eek out wins.

I feel like its in one of those movies where the really old boxer/athlete/what-have-you gets called into duty one last time and even though theyre old and out of it they still dig deep and push themselves to get the job done one last time.

Basically its been epic :laugh2:

Teams keep underestimating his ability to move just because he's old. He doesn't look like a running qb, so teams assume he never runs.

Just because he's an old white guy doesn't mean he can't run.
