53-man roster projection

Tim MacMahon
This is no longer premature. The cuts are coming soon, and it's not out of the realm of possibility that the Cowboys' 53-man roster will include one or two players who went to training camp with other teams.
Follow the jump for an educated guess about the 53 guys the Cowboys will keep.
QB
Tony Romo
Brad Johnson
Comment: Cowboys could add a third QB, depending on who is available, but they're comfortable with Johnson as Romo's backup.
RB
Marion Barber
Felix Jones
Tashard Choice
Comment: Only question with this group is whether Felix Jones should return kicks.
FB
Deon "Cricket" Anderson
Comment: He's a valuable special teamer, solid lead blocker and can do a little somethin' when he gets the ball on checkdowns.
TE
Jason Witten
Tony Curtis
Martellus Bennett
Comment: Bennett, a phenomenal athlete in a 6-6, 260-pound package, flashed his potential on a 29-yard catch and run against the Texans.
WR
Terrell Owens
Patrick Crayton
Sam Hurd
Miles Austin
Isaiah Stanback
Danny Amendola
Comment: This is the toughest position to figure, primarily because of injuries. Austin should be back some time in September, and he'll slide right into the No. 4 role. Stanback might require shoulder surgery, which would mean he'd land on injured reserve. The Cowboys probably won't sign a veteran like Terry Glenn or Joe Horn, but count on them keeping a close eye on the waiver wire. Mike Jefferson and Amendola might be competing for the final roster spot in the preseason finale.
OL
LT Flozell Adams
LG Kyle Kosier
C Andre Gurode
RG Leonard "Bigg" Davis
RT Marc Colombo
T/G Pat McQuistan
T/G Doug Free
G/C Cory Procter
G Joe Berger
G/T James Marten
Comment: Kosier's foot injury eliminated any doubt about the Cowboys keeping 10 linemen.
DL
Chris Canty
Jay Ratliff
Marcus Spears
Tank Johnson
Jason Hatcher
Stephen Bowen
Comment: Spears won't give up his starting job without a fight.
ILB
Bradie James
Zach Thomas
Kevin Burnett
Bobby Carpenter
Comment: The Cowboys need Burnett and Carpenter to be standouts on punt and kick coverage.
OLB
DeMarcus Ware
Greg Ellis
Anthony Spencer
Justin Rogers
Erik Walden
Comment: Spencer's knee surgery might have guaranteed Walden, a sixth-rounder who should contribute on special teams, a roster spot.
CB
Terence Newman
Anthony Henry
Adam "Pacman" Jones
Mike Jenkins
Orlando Scandrick
Evan Oglesby
Comment: Oglesby hasn't built on his training camp momentum in the last two games. But Alan Ball was even worse against Denver and Houston. If the Cowboys decide to add a QB, they could go with only five cornerbacks.
S
Ken Hamlin
Roy Williams
Pat Watkins
Courtney Brown
Comment: They'll probably try to stash Dowayne Davis on the practice squad.
SPEC.
P Mat McBriar
K Nick Folk
LS L.P. Ladouceur
Comment: Folk needs to either get hang time consistently on kickoffs or brush up on his tackling technique.
